Just wondering people's thoughts on the Remington 750. I generally stay away from the 740/7400, but am thinking about the 750. Looking at picking one up in excellent condition in .35 whelen. Any comments or past experience with this caliber/gun combo or just the 750 in any other cal? Any thoughts as to approximate value? Just looking for a large cal gun for the range and whitetail hunting.

Love it. Own a Rem 750 carbine in 30-06. Shoot 180grn PSP Core Lokt bullets. Nice accurate rifle that I enjoy hunting with. Shhot with it in some horrible weather, last fall at -40 it worked fine.

Buy it - it will do you just fine.

They are the same as the 740/742/7400's if you get one that works it works great, if you get one that gives you trouble it will always give you trouble. A few of the local's here have bought them and some work great and others are terrible. It is a crap shoot! I have had a few 740/742/7400's over the years and now only have a 7400 in 280rem, but I have 3 browning BAR Shorttrac's and hoping to add a Longtrac by fall. I know the browning semi's are more expensive but they are worth every penny over the remingtons.

Thanks for the input. The person who is selling it says they have had no problems with it, but it's only seen about 40 rounds. Any ideas what would be a fair price for this gun in .35 whelen in excellent condition?

I have owned a 750 in .308 and a 750 in .35 Whelen. The .308 took about 50 rounds to break in and was completely reliable after that. (I bought it from a guy who said it jammed, he only shot about 5 rounds through it) The .35 never had a problem from the get go, completely reliable. I now shoot a 7400 in .308, again no issues what so ever. Buy it. Routine cleaning, especially the chamber is essential to good running.

Love the cal but I had 2 750's and both of them went back a few times to remington for problems. (gave up on them and traded back to dealer) My old 740 30-06 worked great for several years with no problems before i sold it to a buddy (bought another off CGN the other day) I know some that bought the 750 and loved it and others that curse it.
If it works..they work great. If it don't ...it won't. Keep them clean including the chamber and it should work well. Good luck!
