thoughts on Savage rimfire?

Savage rimfire mags are garbage. Every new savage rimfire I have purchased I had to replace the mag....and sometimes had to replace the replacement to get a good one. That said the 17hmr I have is very accurate. Does not like 17grn ammo though...and is the only 17hmr I have had that will shoot the crappy win gray label 20grn stuff well.

I've got about 1/2 doz Mk II mags now and have had others that I gave to my son. I have only had a problem with one and fixed it in minutes by adjusting the feed lips (it had probably been dropped).

My first rifle was a mark ii BSEV which I unfortunately sold. I currently own a mark ii G which has been a wonderful rifle, especially for the price. If you're interested in a more traditional stock and irons, the G is an excellent choice. Accurate, smooth and reliable.

And the G only costs $15 more than the F so I don't know why anyone would buy an F unless they really wanted a light weight rifle for wife of kids.

My current Savage rimfire collection include 93BTVS, 93R17 Mako and MKII FV SR. Had a 64 FSS that I sold. All are excellent shooting rifle and never any issues with mags.

+1 for savage rim fires. Mags can be picky. Bend them back into place and you're good. With good ammo my buddy and I would take turns shooting at quarter sized objects (because defacing real quarters is illegal) at 60 yards. Whoever could get the object with the lowest number of shots was the winner. Took me two shots: first was for the hold, second for the hit.

Great rifles. Haven't shot a cz but am hoping the new xring will negate any need for any other rim fire. Mostly cuz now I'm broke. Lol

Have a 93 FVSS in 22mag. Topped with a Vortex 4x16x50 it shoots inside of 2MOA all day. Onlt Mag issue is insertion and removal of the 5rd models. I bit harder than the 10rd.
