so ive got about 300 shells through my grizz now, and a few thoughts on it

1)it makes a LOUD but effective skeet gun:D
2)Finish is very thin and comes off easily
3)the edges of the trigger are SHARP, after about 100 rounds im missing skin off of my trigger finger, need a way to fix that
4)great gun for the money

I love it .... great bang for the money !!

-only shot 5 rnds so i dunno about the trigger
-i do dry fire a bit but the finish is still doing ok but i dont mind the finish rubbing off . gives caracter to the gun
-i dont find the bang that loud maybe because im used to shooting .45 or maybe its my earmuffs
-accuracy is pretty good but what do i know
-looks awsome

I'm not sure what the finish is, but yeah, it doesn't last. Doesn't matter to me though, it a $300 gun I'm going to be beating around.....:)

The grizzly has a parkerized finish like the HP9-1 that I have . Same gun, but 14" on mine instead.

I agree... the gun is great, but the finish, like you said, doesn't last.

It is black oxide, not park. The factory cannot, and will not, do park.

Sorry, I was talking about my HP9-1, not the grizzly, my bad... the norc hp9-1 is listed as parkerized on wikipedia, marstar's website, and in the manual that came with it.

What is the advantage/disadvantage of black oxide over park?

LOL, Black Oxide is the same coating they put on Drywall screws. Mine is scratched to rat #### already. Put who cares. I'll just have it Park'd and it will still be well under $500, for a very well functioning gun

talking about grizzlies, what size and content shells would you carry for bear defense in this shotgun? just received mine today :). will try it on wednesday.

Bean bag rounds :)

No, seriously... #00, or #000 buckshot...

My personal recommendation is to go big and get hollow-point rifled slugs; that's what I'll be bringing for my bear hunting as a "backup" to my .300 Winchester Magnum rifle.

Black bears you could probably get away without the slugs, but brown/grizzly bears have been known to show up at the most inopportune times with violence in mind.

Good luck and be safe :)

Oh, and 3" of course. The grizzly and HP9 can accept 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, so go with the 3" for big game.

my fiend showed me an easy fix the scratched surface on Grizzly: clean the scratched area, then use cotton dip some quick blue solvent and mop through the area.

It will be like new again.
