Hello, looking at purchasing the GSG-15 .22 lr, what are your thoughts? Good and bad. Anything to consider after owning for awhile? Ammo jams? I shot one about 2 weeks ago at the range with a simple red dot setup, seemed decently accurate, but I've seen lots of mixed reviews about quality etc.
Any input and recommendations would be great!

Mine has been great but it's picky at times. Seems to favour copper jacketed ammo. Lead usually jams while feeding 5-10% of the time. Accuracy is good. My tightest groups have always been with 36 grain cci mini mags. Standing using a 4x fixed scope at 50 yards it's close to 1 moa.
One thing to note, the mags are super tight and if they are dirty it will start to give feeding issues. I rub a drop of oil on the primer side of the mag and that seems to help a lot. Once in a blue moon I will get a case jammed in the barrel but that's usually after 300 plus rounds in a single day.

Edit; I have probably run 2500 rounds through mine so far. It still feels the same as day 1.

I have a lot of rounds through mine. It's a fun and functional gun!
It's a bit picky on ammo but feed it High velocity federal value pack or CCI and you will be smiling all day. It's a great camping pinker and one that will get some looks. Build is solid, take down sucks, but can be made better with some HK push pins.

It's at the higher end of the 22 price scale imo but with the 10/22 issues it makes the sr22 not worth it and I see the GSG-15 being the next runner up for a tacticool .22

My little Nephew has Officially laid claim to it. Doesn't want nothing to do with any other of my 22`s. He uses the mag as a balance point off the table top . Fits him pretty good. He even told me to not shoot so fast ! Take my time and aim !:slap:

I put about 200rds through mine a couple weeks back. Used mainly CCI Standard Velocity and had 0 problems. Tried some stingers/velocitors with no problems as well. Also tried some CCI CB Longs (just to see what would happen) they didn't cycle the action, but they fired just fine. I haven't tried any other branded ammo (forgot to bring it) but from other accounts most people who use HV ammo tend to not have problems.

Some people have had magazine issues, but it's always been a habit of mine to tap the magazine when full to help seat the ammo better and I never had any issues with my 2 magazines.

Thanks for the replies! This sums up really well what I've read so far about it in general. Just wanted some feedback since yes it is a little higher in the .22 price range. Will have to keep an eye out on the EE!

I have a 1x4 Norco scope on mine itsfiredabout 800 to 1000 round o far. I really like it.
It hates Remingtons, wildcat and standard velocity ammo (except S&B std works flawess).

I have used a bunch of different ammo in it.
American Eagle CPHP , worked fine 1 stovepipe or 2 on eject
Federal auto match , works great avg groups. This is great cheap ammo.
CCI , 32grhp and 40grRN ar tactical perfect best groups
Remington thunderbolt 40 eds, 3 rds suck in the chamber, fails to extract stovepipe s.. . Never again I won't miss what Remington became
Wildcat, dirty jams on feeding was not impressed by this. Won't buy again.
Federal powershok perfectly good groups
S&B standard, only shot 1 mag. Best group out of the gun and not one misfire or jam. Wish it was easier to get.

You must load your mag carefully. One of manage holds 24 but works best with 23rds and the others all 22rds. Load them one by one and tap the mag on your helmet or hard surface to seat them. Most jam issues are with loading the mags incorrectly. It takes a bit of practise and patience to load them well. Otherwise the gun is great and shoots very nice groupings at 100m for a semi. I am having fun with mine.
