What are your thoughts on the HW57? This rifle seems to be the red headed stepchild of Weihrauch underlever rifles, but the lower weight and size appeal to me. Any first hand experience?
Thanks.

I've never seen one. The HW 57, an under lever spring piston rifle, has the excellent Rekord trigger and is a 12 fpe rifle (that is, a .177 pellet around 8.4 grains has a MV of about 800 fps, and a .22 pellet about 600 fps. According to The Blue Book of Airguns, this rifle "was an economy version of the HW97 wit a pop-up loading tap."

Google "HW57 reviews" and you'll find a lot of responses from U.K. sources, as that is where the vast majority of rifles of this power level have been sold and used.

Also consider posting this question on the Canadian Airgun Forum http://www.airgunforum.ca/forums/ You'll get more and knowledgeable responses.

I've shot one. It was decent, but the fit and finish just isn't as nice as on the HW77 and HW97, both of which I've also shot. It is a chunk lighter, but keep in mind that with springers, lower weight means harder to shoot due to recoil. You can expect accuracy to be moderate to good, while the 77 and 97 are excellent.

I think you should look at the MOD.50 break barrel.....the 57 has a pop up loading port and is the weak point in that model...KEN.
