thoughts on the maxus wicked wing

seems like alot of guys would rather the older model maxus the 1 i guess the silver seems to be an excellent choice as well alot of great reviews

Mechanically both Maxus and Maxus 2 are identical. So I guess why a lot of folks prefer the Maxus is because they don't like the restyle of the Maxus 2. Browning took a big chance messing with the Maxus and I dont think it was for the better.

I’ve owned 2 Maxus, a field and a sporting clays. Both were really nice but I preferred the sporting clays as it had very nice engraving and did not have the magazine cutoff which is the one thing I hate about the field Maxus. I only sold them because I would much prefer to use my Silvers for the hunting that I do.

I also not a huge fan of the Maxus 2. I ended up with a SX4 instead. I don't have very big hands and I felt the stock on SX4 fit my hands better.

The Silver, SX-3, and SX-4, all use pretty much identical internals, but the SX-3/4, are a little cheaper to buy. The Silver and SX-3 have adjustment shims, the SX-4 doesn't.

I ended up choosing an SX4 because it has chromed bores and chambers while the Silver only has chromed chambers. They're both good guns.

Both of my Silvers have chrome lined barrels, not just chambers. The barrel on my Silver hunter also has deep gloss bluing which was not available on the SX3 at the time I purchased it.

I've owned a Browning Maxus Wicked Wing with cerakote finish and the upgraded extended chokes for four years. I have never had a problem with it in the duck blind. I also use it once in a while to shoot skeet and get the occasional hang up when using light one ounce #9 loads. By occasional I mean maybe one hang up in 200 shells or so. The newer design of the Maxus II may not appeal to everyone but as posted earlier, the mechanics are the same and thus reliable. I'm a fan of this firearm.

i think the silver is going to be a better fit for me i really liked the feel of the maxus 1 but not struck on the looks of the new one
