Hey guys,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the Parker Hale Safari in .308 Win.? Are they good rifles? in terms of accuraccy? craftsmanship? etc.... I've not had any experience with these rifles and am interested in one. Thank you for any info you might have!!!!!

cheers, stefan

Parkerhale

I have one in 308 Norma, mine will shoot 1" groups with my handloads. The trigger is supposed to be fully adjustible but i had to have mine gunsmithed to remove creep.

My friend has one in 30/06 and it has considerable trigger creep. That being said they are excellent firearms. I love mine.

Inherited one from my dad, my first rifle. needs new barrel cause i shot it to death. I really like it. .308 win, detatchable mag, sometimes wont feed properly, but otherwise a fine rifle.

I have owned several of these rifles over the years, including 4 308 Norma Mags. They are usually accurate relatively trouble free, and most do have adjustable triggers (three adjustments) I had two that were exceptionally accurate with handloads, and actually shot a moose at a distance that I will not bother to elaborate on with one of the Norma Mags. Some have levelled criticism at the sloppiness of the bolt when the action is open and the bolt fully retracted, but since they are not fired in that position, I fail to see any relevance to anything except perception of the user. I like these rifles, and have no qualms about owning and using them. Regards, Eagleye.

True, but that said some are dogs, like my current one, an early milsurp conversion. Not only is it nothing to write home about its something to be ashamed of. Some of the later ones were ok, this is the earliest one I have personally seen, and its garbage. PH could be hit or miss on somethings, mines a miss, and I would hesitate to take another Safari without a close look at it first.

I've had 3 of the 1200 C model (detachable mag). All were great hunting rifles. If you need to replace the trigger in one, any Mauser aftermarket trigger will work with some modification.
