Just wondering what the general thoughts and critique for the M&P9 are?

It isn't a big purchase, but it feels decent and seems to be put together well.

I noticed it is a bit top heavy with the polymer frame, but i would suspect that is offset with a loaded mag...

anyway.. interested in opinions.

I've had 2, both excellent with no issues what so ever between the 2 for close to 4,000 rounds. Check out pistol-training.com and mp-pistol.com. Many of the issues that early pistols faced have been fixed (mag catch and finish issues). As with all firearms your mileage may vary, I wouldn't hesitate to bet my life on mine.

Mine is great ! I would suggest it to anyone looking for that type of pistol.
You could say that Glock quality is a little better and they're more proven ( because of age ) . I based my final decision on looks and most people will agreen that the M&P looks way better and more up-to-date.

having shot lots of rds threw both the M&P and glock I would go with the M&P fit grip and control is awesome for me with the M&P plus being able to change the grips is nice for a more then one shooter gun

For the same price, you'll be happier with a Glock 17.

I own both the G17 and the M&P9. They're both fantastic pistols, and I've never had a single problem with either one.

When new, the trigger was a bit gritty on the M&P, but it's starting to feel much better now. Other than that, excellent ergonomics, decent build, and pretty accurate.

You really can't go wrong with either one.

It really comes down to personal preference. For me it ws the grip that sold the gun. I don't care for the grip of the Glock. My M&P has been flawless with over 1,000 rds through it. The Glock is nice but now somewhat dated in that a lot of poly guns are being made with replaceable grips to accomodate different hand sizes.

The M&P's come with metal magazines and have decent metal sights. The Glock has cheezy polymer mags and even cheezier polymer sights.

In my view the M&P is a much better buy.

If you go to the M&P Forum a professional shooter has put over 60,000 rds through an M&P in less than six months which is more than most of us will shoot in a lifetime.

Take Care

M&P = Nice Gun and crappy customer service.

My wife is looking for a poly gun and the grip feature is right up her alley. I advised her not buy it now after Greentips post.

Get a Glock and deal with the static grip. It's not that big an issue unless your paws are really small.

I'm lucky, I live pretty close to the warranty centre - I could pick up the gun, shoot it and if it wasn't fixed have it back at the warranty centre by noon, with out spending extra money on gas. In fact I could drive the guy who does the work to the range and have him back before lunch. But, like many others, I've never had a problem.

Calm down...

I used the search feature to find a few threads on the M&P (and yes, the search function does work, but it can be a little frustrating at times) - I then passed that on to you so you could read through some of the other posts and maybe answer some of your questions.

I wasn't spazing on ya...:runaway:
