Thoughts on the Tapco stock for an SKS?

1. Note the location of the cross bolt in your original wood stock and the notch in your receiver where it mates up with.

2. Insert the SKS into your new stock. Find the notch on your receiver, mark your spots where you will drill on the inside wall of your stock. To line it up properly I dabbed some white grease on a smaller length section of bar stock (from the same diameter size I was using for the application), placed it in the receiver notch, and did this to both interior stock walls.

3. Use a caliper to line up the inside mark on the stock, and mark the outside on both sides where you will drill. (measure twice, drill once)

4. Drill, and insert bar/thread stock after it is cut to the appropriate length.

5. I use devcon putty to bed everything tight.

I'll post pictures of the finished project when I get a chance to take them.

I have been having a hard time finding a Canadian retailer with the Tapco SKS stock with the lower rail not the bayonet cut out. I'm looking for either the olive drab or sand coloured stock. Any ideas ??

Have had mine in an OD Tapco stocl for the past couple years, love it. Will probably try that cross bolt idea tho, never could figire out why the polymer stocks never had them.

Next on the list for that guy is a scout mount and red dot :3
