Hey guys, just pondering a thought. I've got a 454 Casull and was looking into creating some light loads just to get some trigger time with the gun and not pound my hands into submission. Don't get me wrong I love the push in the hand that the big stuff gives me.

This is what I was thinking, from a cost effective approach I was thinking of using my existing 454 brass with a starting load of about 6.5gns of TrailBoss and here is where it gets goofy, Use a .451, 230 gn Frontier round (your typical 45 ACP round)

I've got lots of Frontier rounds and Frontier only makes a 300 gn for the 454 which are pricey compared to the .451 and besides I think it's pointless to put a 300 gn round over Trail Boss.

your thoughts?

If you can shoot 45LC in your 454 Casull, then get some lead bullets from Ben, and load 45 Colt to your hearts content. That's your "Light" loads that you can safely shoot. It's what I do with my Super Redhawk.

I do realize that the 45 LC is the light load. I would prefer not to go out and buy LC brass (call me cheap) when I've got 500 pieces of Casull brass sitting around.

And if someone tells me to trim my Casull brass to LC spec:HR::HR::HR:

As I stated, I'm trying to be cost effective here with what I have.

No sarcasm was intended in this post

I think he was suggesting using .45 colt load data in your .454 . That is what I would do
