So gramps has been a one gun Gus since the 70's. A K98 Voere in .308 Norma Mag. His Moose chasing days are done and I offered to buy it off him. The bluing and wood is done. The guns been to hell and back and has the scars to prove it (rust as well, grand dad dont maintain chit). Rifles a tack driver as vintage German wares aught to be so no problems with the barrel.

So, slather is in oil and stuff it in the safe and take it out on special occassions (example: getting dirty and hammering bull moose).

Or would doing this be an insult to the rifles legacy...

Red padded McWoody, steel talley 2 piece mounts, purple Vari-X III, fresh bluing (rich and so deep/dark it looks like marble) and "Lynn Archibald" skillfully engraved on the floorplate?

If I'm way the fck outta line, smack me back in....for the record Gramps himself said "oh jesus she needs refinishing". So its not like I want to bastardize his legacy.

This one is a Voere 2155 which the stock finish was in pretty bad shape.
Now it shines again.

Which number are the Talley bases you want to put on yours? Think you will need custom work.
Unlike printed in most catalogs, Voere rifles don't take the same bases as the FN or ex-military actions. They usually fit with #35 front and #55 rear.

Anyways, you can't do much, as the trigger is either a modified original (adjustable for the 2155) or a fully adjustable one (for the 2165) ant the tang safety is made to lock the bolt closed and works with the trigger, also, the action is bedded with a square cross bolt. Maybe, if it's a 2155, you can change the bolt shroud for one in the Supreme style, but you will change the look quite a bit.
The one above just got a new Decelerator butt pad and stock refinishing.

I'd re-blue it and refinish the wood in tru-oil, maybe a new pad...

Legacy is one thing, pitting and rusting is another...;)
