Thoughts on x bolt

Have the fluted carbon stalker 30 06. Abuse it...cold winter, week long moose hunts in the rain...super grippy stock, great palm swell, light recoil, moa off my back pack and truck roof. Only criticism is the bolt handle...it's small and slippery. Feels a bit whimpy in big hands. Wish i could find an after market one. Otherwise super good looking accurate rifle.

I can't get past the styling.... But the fit and finish is awesome in every example I have handled..... The a-bolts I have owned suffered for accuracy...... Apparently the x- bolts do not......

Styling is up to the eye of the beholder.... But to me they look like they should shoot a phaser beam instead of a bullet....

Try a Hornady bolt ball before changing handle. 5 ish $ delivered. I love mine.

I've been hunting with a browning xbolt in 308 for the past 3 years, absolutely love it! 2 deer, 1 moose, and dozens of KM walked with it. I got the Micro Midas model so it's really light and compact. perfect rifle to hike around with, gets in and out of the truck with ease. The clipazines are really handy and durable. Its a well thought out rifle. Nothing really negative I can say about it.

I did manage to break the plunger for the bolt unlock button. 'Forced' the bolt open with the safety on. But it was an easy fix, and even when it was broken it didn't affect the function of the rifle.

I bought X-Bolt Micro Hunter in 7mm-08 for my 13 yr old boy this year. I find the 20 inch barrel makes the rifle "buck" a little but it is still a dream to shoot and carry. Developed VERY accurate load easily with Ramshot Big Game and 140gr A.B. Boy used it on his first big game hunt this Fall and bagged a nice Moose.

I'm very happy with mine, it fits and shoulders great for me, accurate with factory ammo, trigger gets good and bad reviews it seems but mine is good for me...couple minor complaints, the finish on the stock has a few chips out of it, and I had some tiny spots of rust develop on the bolt once before, I wipe it down more regularly and never again

I own a micro hunter left hand 7-08 it is an awesome gun and shoots well with the simmons predator quest 4.5-18x40 scope on it. The gun comes out of the box with a nice trigger and from what I can tell it is most likely the most accurate production rifle for under 900 bucks. I have right around 1000 into the whole gun.

I have the Stainless Stalker X-Bolt in 30-06 with a 3-9x40 VX1 Leupold mounted low to the barrel, (about 1/32nds clearance between the barrel and the scope objective), and MOA @ 100yards is no problem. With this X-Bolt the felt recoil is less than my A-Bolt 30-06 with the "BOSS" system with a "muzzle break",..the A-Bolt is also heavier. I assume the X-Bolt gives less felt recoil because of the "Inflex" recoil pad and the design of the rifle in general. It is light and well balanced and is comfortable to carry all day. Although I really kind of prefer traditional wood and blued guns,..I have to say that I really like the grippy "Duratouch Armor Coat" finish on these composite stocks, and the stainless metal gives better protection against rust,..the only fault of the stainless, and this is just my opinion, is it makes me nervous to swing/move the brighter coloured barrel on a deer when they are up close and could pick up on the movement of a brighter object,..but I guess that can be remedied with a strip of 3M camo tape to cover the barrel during hunting season.
All in all,..the X-bolt is an excellent rifle, I am very happy with mine, very accurate, low recoil, light to carry, they function smooth and flawlessly, the composite rotary magazine is pretty much indestructible, and the price is very good,...whats not to like.
I stated above that I prefer traditional wood and blued rifles,.. I bought the Stainless Stalker as a tool to be used in bad weather conditions,...but come to think of it I now carry this rifle more than my others no matter what the weather is,..so I guess I must like this rifle more than I think, lol.

I guess a few people had my line of thinking and got a micro(mine was a micro hunter, not sure of the difference) for a shorter barrel and lighter weight.
I think saskatoon gun works had them on for $750 a couple years ago. Hard to say no to at that price.

Had a stainless stalker in 30-06 but wanted to change it up so I sold that and bought one in 300wsm instead. It's got a VX3L on it and is a wonderful package.

lone-wolf,...
The difference between the "Micro Hunter" and the "Hunter" is the Micro has a 20" bbl and the length of pull is only 5/16ths shorter. I am really thinking about buying the "Micro Hunter" in 7-08 or 308 for myself...aaa,.. I meen my wife, hmm hmm,..lol. I think the "Micro Midas" would be too short for me,...aaa..my wife, because the length of pull is only 12 1/2",...but I bet it would be a sweetheart to carry all day.

Yea, I don't even notice a shorter length of pull. Not that 5/16ths is gonna be very noticeable.
I see the Micro Midas and Micro Hunter, almost used interchangeably by some dealers. Which made me wonder the differences

If you are under 6 feet tall and 12 1/2 inch pull works well with a hunting jacket on... place it on your inner shoulder instead of towards your bicep and don't shoot across your body so much.

If they offered the Midas in 250 savage I would have bought one already for my son. The magazine is one of the best on the market if you ask me, accurate as it gets in a factory rifle, excellent recoil pad, strong and safe action.

Might have to purchase the 22-250 and have it rebarreled :(
