I wouldn't use 223 even if it'll do.

Ammo here is expensive, limited variety, and limited quantities. Most people here do not have PALs so purchasing outside the community is nearly impossible for most folks. Families are large, cost of living is high, and employment is low. Using .223 ammo is sometimes all a hunter can get or afford at times.

tuktu

tuktu is still on the interior of the island and not moving yet way to wet and green over here, also muskox numbers are doen but the char fishing is good. We have thousands of seals up this way, funny about the ammo I was in Kitnuna went into the store room saw boxes of old imperial 7x57 asked how much a box and picked them up for 9.00 a box ye haa also was given a crate of 303 not a box a crate happy days hunting starts in just a few days. greetings from 73 North

Of all of God's creatures, the caribou probably gives up his life the easiest, thus centerfire .22s and .243s are commonly chosen. Of the 3 species, Woodland, Mountain, and Barren Ground, the Barren Ground caribou is the smallest. In some areas where their ranges overlap there are Woodland/Barren Ground hybrids.
Heres a variety of what we see . . .
