Pardon the newbie question, but I have been researching some pistols to buy, and I found an HK45 that comes equipped with a threaded barrel. What kind of accessories can you use with a threaded barrel other than a suppressor?

So basically my question is, what use is a threaded barrel in Canada, other than novelty?

1) if the gun is too short you can replace the factory barrel with a longer one that will stick out of the slide.
if your gonna have that extra little bit of barrel you can get it threaded in case you ever want to use it - better then just having nothing on it i guess

2) you can run compensator's on it. anything from weighted comps to comps that will direct the escaping gasses to reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil.
some guns like the 460Rowland have extreme pressures and come with comps built into the barrels to help harness some of that felt recoil.

3) esthetics. putting a little lipstick on the pig to make it look a little nicer or make it so it dosnt look like the other 10,000 ones that are out there.

case in point. this is my 22/45 Lite with a custom made comp that i had designed and made for it. while its a 22 and has next to nothing for recoil i think it adds a nice look to the gun and makes it stand out a bit. it probably does cut down on some muzzle flip but really its a 22 there isnt much muzzle flip.

here is a 1911 with a 460Rowland hit added onto it. it has a comp built onto the barrel (threaded barrel with the comp added on) to help tame it.
now this comp does actually reduce felt recoil.

here is a Glock 19
this gun in Canada has a barrel that is too short - but if you add on a threaded barrel it gets you out of the prohibited class and into the normal restricted class so now you can own it.

That 45 auto comp is a nice fit, is that a bushing comp or a barrel comp, What make, if you don't mind my asking
