Ok what's up with the threaded barrels? For fake suppressors? Games? Role play?

Minimum barrel length for a restricted pistol is 106mm. You wouldn't notice on the usual full-size but on compacts it'll mean the barrel sticks out past the slide.

I've got two compacts. One, the HK P2000 but has a blank nub sticking out. The other, the above P239 has a threaded barrel from factory as the tactical model.
Aesthetically it looks a lot better with the threaded barrel and thread protector.

Minimum barrel length is one reason. Other reasons are for comps (e.g. race guns and Roland Specials), or because they come to market like that (HK Mark 23, FN FNX-45 Tactical, etc.)

Believe it or not some people live in countries where they can use a suppressor, the threaded barrels make it easier to mount and that's generally why they exist......nothing to do with Mall ninja's.


I personally don't see the point of a fake can but hey who am I to judge other people's tastes. That said, on some long barreled CDN length carbine's the fake can's or shrouds can help balance out the look of a long thin profiled barrel.

What's wrong with that? You don't buy things based on looks? I know I like the look of what I buy otherwise I wouldn't buy it. It's like buying a 1914 era 1911. Looks like sh1t to me but I'm sure some people would buy one...right?

He just means by extending the barrel.

Example: Glock 19 regular barrel is less than 105mm, Glock 19 with threaded barrel is greater than 105mm.

Maybe they want to attach solvent traps for easy cleaning?

Considering restricted firearms are just range toys, what difference does it make it someone wants to #### around with a fake suppressor?

Isn't that what we are all doing when we play USPSA and IPSC?

I legally concealed carry all the time but I would hardly consider most of the stuff I do at the range to be practical.

I'm not out there burning 1000 rounds through my LCP and drawing from a pocket holster.
