I just picked up a M590a1 last week that had been threaded for Remington chokes from the last owner. Haven't used it yet though.
I bought a used 590 that had been threaded for Remchokes.
Happy with it? Any issues?
Wondering if anyone has had their Mossberg 590 (not the thick barrel 590A1) threaded for chokes, and if so, what did you go with?
Measure the outside diameter of the barrel. If it's greater that .845 you can get it threaded for RemChokes. If less than .845, but greater that .825 then you can get TruChokes installed.
I currently ream and thread for Rem, but I have Just ordered the reamer and tap for TruChoke because there are so many older guns out there with thinner barrels.
Well I've put a couple boxes through the new chokes, all holding up good so far. The bead seems solid and the EF choke is just the ticket on steel, even using bird shot. The above are minimum OD specifications but there is another thing you have to consider and that is the screw in bead. If you ream and make the wall too thin then the front sight will fall out. On this job that was a major consideration.
