threading a ruger 10/22 without losing the front sight.

I was thinking of having the barrel bored out to say 3/8" and around 3/8" deep. Then have a custom peace made with 1/2-24 thread with a 3/8 friction fit stub.

is this a viable option?

not so bad since i have a friend that works in a machine shop. i would do it myself but i dont have access to a lathe.

May or May not affect your accuracy... There are adapters available or you could look into a dlask barrel.

Why do you want it threaded?

I want to make a taticool plinker just for fun but dont like the slip on look.
Dlask is an expensive option I dont want to invest in. I want a cheap fun shooter thats all.

1/2-28 is what most AR accessories are, won't find that tap at most machine shops.

I just put this on for lol...Or how about you move the front sight back, and then turn and thread the original and thread that.

Sorry meant 1/2-28. Just finished a 5/8-24 thread job on my beretta.
That break is kinda cool looking. Bigger than i wanted but still way cool. Where can i get one?
