Anyone done this to a savage bull barrel? More specifically a rimfire mark II? I know I'd have to go to a gunsmith so I figured I'd ask here. Can you even thread a savage BB to 1/2x28? If so how much would it cost roughly?

Also what is the difference in the diameter between a savage mark II heavy barrel and the ruger 10/22 heavy barrel? Or are they same. I read somewhere that the 10/22 is .920 but I can't find savages barrel diameter on here or google.

Machining runs $100 plus per hour these days. 1/2-28 isn't a standard thread. Where are you getting that?
Savage doesn't say what diameter their barrel is. Nobody else seems to be sharing that info either. The Savage manual indicates the barrel and receiver are one item too.
The Ruger is .920". That doesn't mean the Savage barrel is too though.

Well I believe thats what the thread on a 10/22 is and I was wondering if its possible to thread a savage bull barrel to that in order for a fake supressor. Just an idea. Stupid I know haha

Can't see why not. Take a look at the fake suppressors that Fabsports carries. They have them for large diameter barrels. The machinist simply machines down a section of barrel to 1/2" and cuts threads on it. The dummy suppressor will look good if its larger in diameter than barrel, and I'm sure the one's Fabsports has for the 10/22 bull barrels will be large enough in diameter for that visual effect.

You mean you want to thread the muzzle? If you have the money, that's great, but there's other ways to stick on a fake can.

A real can needs threading or some other really solid mount because it's catching all that gas. A fake can doesn't need it. I'd use a set-screw. With a .22 lr, even a delrin screw would hold it and wouldn't mar the finish.
