Three screw Blackhawk in .44 mag.

I was just given an early three screw Blackhawk in .44 mag. It has a 7 1/2" barrel and is in very nice shape. Are these Super Blackhawks or just Blackhawks? And what would the approximate value be on one of these, any ideas?

Original .44 mag flat tops are more desireable than the supers, nice gift!!! I have one got the trigger updated, 40 lbs pull, reverted to original, great gun.

I just got the SBH gift gun home today. It is not a flat top, it is all steel though and has much less markings on it than my newer BHs. It's serial number is 197, it's a very cool old revolver and surely was a great gift.

As I recall, the earliest Ruger .44 mags were "Blackhawks". Their cylinders were fluted. The Super Blackhawk was made with unfluted cylinders to help add a bit of weight.

I'm sure a Ruger guru could shed more light on your revolver. (very nice gift, BTW).

Alot of people didn't/don't like the square back trigger guard of the super blackhawk. I'm still thinking of the wisdom of a 40 LB. pull trigger on a Blackhawk..most be some kind of new safety feature.

my thoughts about value is directly related to condition! these old guns are well sought after, especially in the US....
