I received an Addley Precision mount today. I have not shot a rifle with it mounted yet, but am confident it will be fine.

The good. :D

No gunsmithing needed, a monkey could figure it out.

A wide variety of scopes can be used with this mount.

Three screws at the top on either side can be tightened to fully secure the mount , this may be necessary or may not depending on the rifles tolerances. Either way it's no big deal.

The height of the mount is spot on with low rings giving a perfect cheek weld.

It is robust, very practical, and made right here in Canada.

Can be ordered fro Corwin Arms

The bad.:(

It looks a bit like something a Wallmart commando would be proud to own.

It has six tapped holes on either side for attaching yet two more weaver rails. This is fine if you really feel the need to mount a flux capacitor and a tampon dispenser on your SVT 40.

It does not come with screws with which to block the holes.

It has a long weaver rail which protrudes at the front which I will be removing.

The good :D

The full range of POSP scopes can be used with this mount.

Scopes can be mounted and dismounted in seconds.

The iron sights are not restricted in any way.

Stripper clips can be used

The bad :(

The mount needs to be welded to the receiver.

The stock needs to be inlet-ted

Ruins the resale value of the rifle.

3

Reproduction of original SVT 40 mount.

The height of the mount is spot on giving a perfect cheek weld

Open sights can be used

Stripper clips can be used

Great quality Russian made mount.

Robust and practical.

Looks perfect on the rifle.

Can be ordered from Corwin Arms

The bad :(

Choice of optics very limited.

Well I have 4 SKS Rifles, 1 Mosin and now it is definitely time to get an SVT-40! Your pics have made my decision for my next Firearm purchase....nice Rifles you have there.

There never was a better time. You will love it !

Well come on over then and have a look Be my guest

If you promised me that Santa was on the guest list I would definitely come.

OK, I take your word that you drilled and taped an SVT 40 receiver. Now how about some decent pics showing how you did it ?

Lol fighting in a new thread now?!

So does drill and tap work well or not? If not why not?

Because the screws have to go through the receiver wall and into the internal rails. Internal dremel work would be necessary to let the bolt carrier ride smoothly again. Apart from that the receiver walls are thin, and I don't think there is enough meat for the screws to get a decent enough grip to stop them coming lose. Especially if only two screws were used as with Beaters mount.

I would really like to be shown to be wrong, but that's up to Beater.

Screws fit perfectly under the rails Ive got about 200 through it without any probs so far But you cant drill a svt so what do i know

How i did it was buy the mount from westrifle Setup the milling machine and D&T it with 8-40 Screw and locktight the mount on Its made by a company called VEPR and if you look up kalinka optics i think it is they are there Built for the gun Not trying to hide anything and have realy got nothing to prove . Mr Lieman seems prity sure its not possible but thats his perspective Santa will definatly be here for cookies and coco so come on over anytime u wish

Only today I was told about screws coming lose on on an SVT 40 fitted with that same mount, that confirmed what I expected.

But anyway, cut the crap and lets see some decent pictures, pictures showing the inside of the receiver. And please, no more excuses.

OP. How is scope mount #1 secured? The recoil of the SVT will propel the mount and attached scope forward.

The mount has six screws on the top, three on either side. The screws can be tightened to prevent the mount moving if you find that it does. Depending on your rifle you may have to use a rubber hammer to get the mount on, if that is the case it's unlikely that you will need to tighten the screws. Either way it's not a big deal.

I think the manufacturer may well make some more "minimalistic" mounts if there is an interest. By minimalistic I mean without the surplus piece of weaver rail at the front end, and without the tapped and threaded holes in the sides. I'm told it would reduce the price by about 20%. It would look a whole lot better in my opinion.

Great looking collection! What size posp scope is that and how do you like it?
I have a 4-10 power and the weaver side mount on it's way from east wave.
the side mount looks like the lowest scope mounting option of the three, is this correct?

What size scope fits in the repro mount? Why does it have limited scopes for it. I like that mount the best of the three but I don't want a straight 3.5x scope.

Thanks :)

It's an 8X40, I love it. It is the lowest scope mounting option of the three, it's very low and works great being an offset scope

I'm a bit confused about which mount you have coming from East Wave, what type of rail does it use ?
