Whats the average cost to have the throat pushed out on a 30 cal barrel?

Also does anyone know of anyone that could do this in new brunswick?

Thanks

Don't know of someone in NB who has one.

There's a fullbore shooter in New Glasgow who has an adjustable throating reamer. At Bisley this summer he helped me get my rifle to pass inspection (I needed a throat of a certain minimum length). It's a very straightforward thing to do. Has got me thinking that I would like to buy an adjustable throating reamer for my bag of tricks

Daniel: can this be done properly without removing the barrel?

Apparently the throat on my rifle is very shallow and it would be nice to push it out a bit.

What kind of pricing on an adjustable throating reamer?

I have had my Savage done for $40, without removing the barrel.
At first I was quoted $200+ by a first class shop here in Calgary coz they wanted to remove barrel and then I don't know what else they were charging that much for? Gold plating the rifling maybe ??;)
I think throating reamers are like $80 or so from PTG

Yes, it can be done without removing the barrel. It's a five to ten minute job (if you are being slow deliberate and careful).

However, removing a barrel is no big deal - I can't see why removing and replacing a barrel on a target rifle would add any more than say $5 or $10 to the job.

I am thinking I might buy one.

PTG has an adjustable throating reamer for $99 which looks like it might be the one used on my rifle this summer. JGS also seems to sell one ("up to 45 cal throater") for $105

Daniel: I am debating buying one , but i am not sure as for me it might be a one time use or it might come in handy down the road to. I don't know. I suppose I could always sell it after I was done with it.

I did email Gary Eakin of Big horn sales to see if he had any in stock and his pricing.
