Thumb tacs in stock

I just purchased a Husqvarna from Tradex.It has a series of thumb tacs in the stock on the comb.Look like little moose heads on them.Can these be pulled straight out or is there some nasty surprise if not taken out properly?I will have to refinish the stock when they are removed but want to be careful to minimize the damage.

Those are unlikely to be thumb tacks but instead are decorative nails

Yeah, keep the tacks. Sounds like that rifle is a game getter, don't mess with its character.

they could be thumb tacks or nails, either way if you pull them you are going to have either round little holes or potentially square ones. depending on who when and where those tacks were put in they could even be square nails in the stock. i would suggest leaving them, and if you don't like it order a new stock from Boyd's.
