Thumbs down to this hunt.

A comment form one of the "ethics police"
I can give a pass to anyone inexperienced and flustered and who has not yet learned from experience. But IMHO someone who records the misdeed and posts it for public display deserves every disapproving comment.
I mentor new hunters every year. I have had some of those newbies make bad choices, that is what learning is all about. I would never condemn someone who makes an honest mistake. But in my opinion, posting a video is akin to bragging about the event. There was absolutely NOTHING to brag about in that video.

An individuals personal values has nothing to do with this at all...This is about common sense.

No its just that the same folks that police the ethical portions of the videos here also jump on everything else thats wrong with our society via posted YouTube videos around here.

I dont give a #### if some asshat in AB is flock shooting Elk, or some #### in Bantario is wounding deer on drives. They're all dumb...who cares, go outside and do something.

The "ethical", "proper" hunters out there look just as bad in the eyes of the anti's as the "nut bars", none of it matters.

Archie... You are absolutely right... Who gives a chit what the antis say?... But we have to have standards amongst ourselves... And blatantly flock shooting and posting it as hunting is not a good thing... As I said earlier... I wager this vid was posted by an anti... Who posts a vid of themselves not shooting anything?

I wonder what the carnage was after this "hunt". Weeks after this episode are the local hunting forums filled with "Found a dead elk" threads.

This is the million dollar question here. Did the shooter/hunter concentrate on only one animal? Or did he target more than one animal? If he did so, did he have tags to cover all his intentions? Problem is, follow up was not filmed. Leaving the viewing audience great lattitude with only what we saw as our only visual referance to the full story. This is hampered by poor visual (slim to none) details. It looks like we see someone banging away at distance (alot of rounds expended), at something out there, and that's it.

We need to know "the rest of the story" no pun intended.
These are terrible videos to leave on the internet as they are right now.

I passed up trying a shot at a cow elk a couple years ago
It was in a heard , they were standing still at a range my 30 06 coulda hit at
But I Was Not Sure I Could Drop it Where it stood...so i passed up the chance
Now with the bipod i use on that sr 22 (it changes over real quick)
Next time i just might try a (1) shot;)

Good post! And that's how it should be for all of us.

Cheers......

Uncalled for!!!!!

Wait a minute here my friend.

All I was saying is that "maybe" the shooter was Aboriginal, and what we witnessed may have been "traditional". Last time I checked they are entitled to do this.

Either way, I believe most agree that the marksmanship was highly questionable.

Are you telling me that the shooter was white descent with one legal tag? You and I don't know that. I simply made a comment as it was not mentioned before, and possible. Nothing to do or implied suggesting racism sir.

So you and others thinking those lines please relax.

I think he needs a bit more practice, he should have had at least 8 elk there. Maybe he would have got one if he learned to cycle the bolt with the rifle still shouldered, who drops the rifle away to cycle the bolt? He could have gotten at least three more shots off...:nest:

IBTL!!!

So if you take that (1) shot at a cow elk standing in a herd and it doesn't Drop it Where it stood, then what? Do you just assume you missed and pack your gun up and head home, or do you keep shooting until your potentially wounded cow elk finally does drop?

Kinda like what that guy in the video was doing......

Maybe go find some more stupid videos to post on CGN, seems to be your claim to fame lately. Addicted to YouTube?? sure seems you like starting s**t..
