My new (to me) Australian Lithgow manufactured FN L1A1 FAL finally arrive from a Dec 2022 auction. The original, distinctive Coachwood furniture is in pretty good condition. Interestingly, this particular L1A1 is not an ex- Singapore Police rifle as is the case ae with most Aussie L1A1s in the wild....

Ohh, fun! I've been thinking about adding an Aussie to the stable, they seem to be the best value in FNs right now. The price on all others has doubled or tripled, but Lithgow L1A1's sell now for almost the same money they did 20 years ago.

Is that a C1A1 sight on there?

Yeah, it unfortunately came with a C1 "Rear Folding Disc Sight of the Aperture Type" rather than the simpler sliding L-shaped Double-aperture sight. Thats OK, as I'm pretty sure I have a spare L1A1 sight kicking around somewhere to do a swap with. The C1A1 Rear Sight will fetch a pretty penny (at least $200 CAD) these days on the FAL-Files , etc.

That one is a ex-Singapore Police rifle, it even has the Singapore police serial/rack number right next to the safety selector switch (SPF 2370) between safe and repetition.

Nice rifle still.

There used to be a lot of L1A1 parts from
Australia in American about 20 years ago
Canada never got them

Huh - so it is. I am used to seeing a stamped-ovt "SPF" on the Right side of the Lower Receiver on former Singapore Police Rifles. I'm not particularly fussed either way, as the vast majority of the surplussed Aussie L1A1s were former Singapore Police rifles. For $600 I'm not complaining....

Were six to a crate with bayonets, slings and cleaning it kits
I bought a few crates at the time, I think it was $1000.00 a crate

Mine is not near as nice....I think they stripped and assembled those girls every single day of their service....gotta be a biker chick joke there somewhere....

Lithgow was always some of the better Inch pattern FAL rifles. I have a parts guns with mismatched serials . They were $250 in 1998.
