It will work, maybe. The case will wind up headspacing off the extractor. Odds are in the process it will pound the piss out of the breachface and have more misfires.
If you need to play, get the .40 S&W and then have the barrel throated to seat your ammo long.

(They sell the mag well as a replacement part, right?)

There is always hand loading... Turns out to be fractionally more expensive than .40.

Hand loading is the way to go for 10mm in Canada.
It sounded to me like the OP was hoping to save on factory ammo by running .40 instead of the weak yet more expensive 10mm generally available in Canada.

Reloading is the only way to go with 10mm, almost all of the factory 10mm manufactured in the U.S. are light loads, only the "Boutique" manufacturers like Buffalo Bore really push the 10mm cartridge to it's limits.

I wasn't really worried about expense. I was thinking since I don't reload much, it would be nice to shoot weaker loads using 40 s&w. Kind of like what I do with the 357/38 special.
I didn't know that 10mm ammo in Canada was typically weak.

Full load 10mm rocks...............weak stuff off the shelf, and you might as well go with 40 SW
