Thureon Defense 10mm - epic failures

It's just a weight issue, straight blowback designs can be finicky, once they get the weight of the bolt/buffer right the rifles should run smoothly.

I think they should have done more in house testing instead of using the consumer for R&D

That seems to be a common method of testing for firearms companies lately.

Got my new one piece all steel buffer with a 7/8 damper, i think this will work great, the damper being installed to the bottom before the spring, 7/8 inch more compression on it and the buffer being a solid massif piece, no roll pin or little damper to lose, just by pulling the handle, you feel it is a lot heavier to bring back, will shoot in in the WE... All I received from them today is an empty envelope. It's probably on the floor in some mail transfer station with a maintenance mechanic trying to figure out which machine this part is missing from.

This is to bad, just call for another one, there service is great, only took 5 days to get here... JP.

So does the recoil spring sit against the new damper or does the damper still fit inside of the spring?
It sit on it giving you an extra 7/8 inch more compression, the one piece machined all steel buffer is 1.5 ounce heavier than the 2 pieces previous buffer, pretty sure this will be a full proof design even with the hottest load...JP

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I think you may run into problems with the recoil spring, either binding or wearing out.

My own assesment is that extra 7/8 inch of compression was missing as the spring was really light compressed before and the one piece all lenght buffer will prevent kinking of the spring as 2 pieces before were easy to kink, my feeling is good on this one, this set up is pretty snug and solid, but like you say we never know... JP.

Got to shoot 100 UMC 180 gr today with the new buffer set up, just perfect, noticed that the eject case just fall at 3 feet, positive ejection, before it would eject at 8 or 9 feets, no malfunctions, after did clean up and check for the new buffer including the 7/8 damper, did not noticed one mark on it, i am good to go... JP.

Ok made me work but you are right this is the way to know, we have a winner, took 3 pictures and made mesurements and you will see, the way i see it the case stay longer in the chamber making less expansion and no black on the one i shoot today

I had the new buffer peen the handle cutout so bad the bolt seized up. That is when I gave up and started solving the problems myself. Tungsten buffers are doing the trick for me. Too bad my rifle had to take so much abuse first.

Getting the problem out of the way is a good thing, noticed i did not have no problem before, i was shooting commercial ammo but now, i might roll myself a powerfull load... For the fun of it... JP.

These problems you guys have been having. Is it all with the 10mm models? I bought a 9mmGA with the round handguard a few months ago but havn't got around to shooting it yet. Just want to know if anyones been having problems with anything other that the 10mms.
