I was plinking outdoors with my TDC in .40. Shot a full mag without a hiccup. Changed mags, 'click'. Tried 3 more times, 'click'. Told myself it 'must be the mag'. Loaded the original mag that functioned - 'click', tried again... guess what. CLICK.

WTF is going on? I have the suspicion that I broke my firing pin or have a trigger issue... when I tear this thing down what should I find? I bought this last winter so it should be under warranty. Anyone ever have an issue with their T.D rifle? I collected the brass but didn't check the strike, disposed of them.

Any info would be appreciated.

Sounds like the tip of the firing pin is broken off, it should take you about 30 seconds to take out bolt and firing pin retainer to check..................................should be no click if it is a trigger issue??? Give TD a call, they mail out replacement firing pins pretty quick.

Ya my firing pin on my 45 broke last year. Phone them they will mail you a few of the upgraded firing pins.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like the problem. Will tear it down and post what I find if it'll help someone else down the road.

do any of these pistol caliber semi auto carbines function reliably?
i used to own a jr, it was crap.

Owning one of each some in many calibers, the only ones that are 100% fully reliable are my Beretta CX-4 both in 9mm NR and CX-4 45 acp R.. These Beretta are the best there is on the market... JP.

Picked up a used TD in 45ACP last year here on EE. It came with the newer F.P. and it runs like a dream. Eats any ammo including the cast reloads that my pistol hates. Have been reloading some 230 XTP's as I plan to hunt deer this year with it. Definitely one of my favorite and fun guns to shoot.

I think you forgot about the HK USC/UMP when it comes to 100% reliability. I have had failures in the beretta, seemed to be ammunition related but the HK's will eat anything the beretta wont.

I let this problem sit in my safe for a while. Finally had a chance to look at it, had to hammer the pin in the bolt to get it out, then the firing pin dropped out. I don't remember what the firing pin looked like before, but it's not long enough to protrude now.
