Thureon Defense Thread

I have a solution to KCI mag problems with the 40. I have 4 KCI mags 2 32 rounders and 2 15 rounders pinned to 5 and about 4-5 real glock mags. I had a heck of a time with them until i looked closely comparing them to the Glock mags.

Solution: if you look at the plastic follower on the Glock mags(At least with mine) compared to the KCI you will notice the KCI there is no shaved front to the follower unlike the Glock mags. With a dremel I matched the angle to Glock mags and viola 98% feeding with only the odd jam compared to evey couple rounds. I have done this with all my KCI mags and it works! The issue that I eventually found was without the shaved follower the front of the round would ramp in the barrel too high and catches the top lip of the casing with the top of the barrel.

Send me a PM with email if you want further detailed pics of what I did. I was super frustrated up to this point and spent a lot of time tryng to figure why the rounds would jam up! All good now cant remember the last time a round would not feed.

Yeah the JRC definitely had some early growing pains. I guess the TD kinda did too at least until they added glock mag capability.
I just bought a JRC for a couple of reasons.
Price being a big one. It is a LOT of bang for the buck. Pun intended.
I shoot left handed. Of all the PCCs nothing really touches the JRC for ambidexterosity (?)

The takedown "SCREWS" are dumb for sure. Man if they just went with an AR style takedown pin system...well I guess it would be harder to do the caliber conversion if the magwell was integral to the lower. If they could somehow do-away with the screws though the JRC would be the CLEAR winner I think.
The only other "issue" (and I realize it's a RD thread and not a JRC one but I just did a whole lot of back and forthing and shopping) is the way there is no guide for the BCG other than the charging handle when the bolt is back from the chamber.
I came-up with a VERY simple improvement for that though. Just add a second charging handle.
And..hard to beat JRC's customer service.
My new extra charging handle is already in the mail to me ;-)

In the end I think it's hard to lose with either.
With my budget and wrong-handed style of shooting the choice was clear and easy.
 
Must say the T.D. is built like a tank, all steel, heavy like a Thompson and eats ammo even my XD has issues with. Very happy with it and will hunt with it again next year.

Nice Kill Bob! Hey I remember you let me shoot that exact TD .45 at Selkirk Game & Fish during Aug long weekend this summer... sure makes me want to put my order through for a 9mm that has been pending with them since the spring for a custom build which they fairly quoted me on...

What model shroud do you have to ask for from E&L MFG Inc. ?

They do ventilated and straight pipe like a silencer, but they have a limit as to how long they can make it. When installed mine had an half inch gap between the forearm and shroud which I filled in with a heat resistant plastic. They will want precise barrel measurements for a custom job like mine so invest in an good caliper if you don't already have.
 
I picked up a TD GA in 10 mm awhile back and I'm loving it so far. It's got a bit of power, easy to clean and I can get Glock 20 or 29 mags from my local dealer. The one issue I had was when the firing pin broke after 100 or so rounds. Andy at Thureon sent another out free of charge and stated if there was any more issues please contact them right away. Very good service. That's probably what has sold me on the TD over the other pistol carbines. I could actualy talk with the manufacturer about issues, mods or what have you.
