thureon defense vs JR carbine

Guess i'll bring this thread back to life. Anyone that has any knowledge on this subect. Please post. I don't wanna spend 900+tax$+xtra mags+ ammo without damn good info on these guns. They're just too expensive to risk being a lemon. Anyone?

Which gun, and which model do you want info on specifically?

my jr in 9mm runs flawless , 5000+ rounds ever let a few friends put a 1000rounds down range in a day, and a lot of rapid fire with no problems, it is the round barrel not the triangle mossberg barrel in the early modles. very fun gun
adam
ps its no harder to clean than my mossberg shot gun

That's quite impressive.

I am very happy with my JR as well I only have 2000 rounds through it but runs great and seams easy to clean, in my opion way more fun than my 10 22 to shoot. got it at reliable and at the time they only had the sa TD and 10 shot is way better then 5 but I now have a pre order in on a ga TD for the wife so she can have her own hate to share and no point having 2 JR's hope to get it for Christmas

Looks like TD had to recently raise their prices about $300 across the board......if you are on the fence and you have an opportunity to get one that is in stock right now at the old price you might want to make a move!

>> Where is this info? Or what does it actually mean?

They are going from $900 Rifle to a $1200 Rifle??

edit.... I see.. Arms east is over $1000 now.

Hmm. I better decide between the KRISS V and the TD .45 qik.

i was looking at them i guess its a jr for me

Thureon is in stock at EPPS for $899. 9mm , .40 and .45 ACP.

If another batch comes in I guess they will be close to $1200. Pretty lame. Not worth $1200? Not sure.

We #####ed for years for a .45ACP carbine. Now we get one for $900 and it is Non-Restricted. HK USC is over 2K and is Restricted with $100 5-round mags

Snap these Thureons up.

do the epps guns come with the modular rails

It does not say in the description. The kit form Thureon is $90. I am guessing that there would be other 'rail kits' that would work.
I do not think they are proprietary.

I think it just has the continuous top rail. You just need something on the bottom to attach a grip or magpul AFG. What is that $20?

I looked on Gunbroker, Guns America, etc. There are none.
If Arms east has some incoming, those are the last of the 'cheap' ones. (and he is quiet about their arrival?)
Right now, EPPS is the only store with them under $900

Well I have to say the only two beefs I have with my JR 40 cal is the general take down, and no lock back on last shot.. But really it takes an extra 3 minutes to striip it and really not a big deal. Mine has run perfectly from day one right out of the box with several different types of ammo and in 800+ rounds its been awesome. Just took it out and wanted to see what it would do at 100 yards with the red dot sight and have to say... friggin great. I put 10 rounds within 10" using a standard red dot with no magnification at 100 yards. I am extremely happy with this rifle and would have no issue going into a gun fight with it. Love it

What type of ammo are you feeding it? I love my JRC40 too but it's about the last thing in my safe I'd pick for a gun fight for the simple fact that I get the occasional FTE.

I'm running winchester 180 Gr (white box) and my reloads without any issue and Speer duty ammo 180 Gr. I had about 5 FTE in the first 100 rounds and since then runs like a well oiled machine. I only clean her every 300 rounds or so. Like any good woman, run her wet and she's happy :)

I'd say like many semi auto's there is a general break in period, but I'm extremely happy with it.

Stopped by EPPS today. About a 85km (45min) drive. I used the wifes car and her gas.

I checked out the Thureon 9mm and the .45acp. To different animals.
The 9mm uses the 10rnd smg mag and is inserted vertically. It has a standard AR button mag release.
The .45 ACP come with a 10rnd GLOCK Mags and it is angled back towards the trigger (shooter). The mag release for the .45 is unique, reminds me of a Norgon.

There are a few things to note about the models available at Epps.
The barrels have no muzzle device and are not threaded.
It has the vented barrel shroud. There is no continuous rail on top of the shroud. Only on the Receiver. The shroud does have 2 small threaded holes at 10 / 2 / 4 / 8 O'Clock. What these are for ?? Who knows.
The octagonal forearm with the Continuous Top Piccatiny Rail (with available rail kit) does not come with these ones.
The M4 stock is a 6-pos stock, pinned with a small roll pin. Remove it and you will have a full functioning stock.

Holding the rifle in front of the magwell felt great with the .45 because it is angled back towards the shooter.
The 9mm felt ..weird because it is straight down

Grabbing the vented shroud doesn't feel right. Maybe because it is small, if it was a little thicker >? A Magpul AFG would work good here.

So I am sitting on the fence, I would have bought it if it had the Octagonal Forearm and Top Rail. But if I have to buy it as an extra....this rifle would be hitting $1200 with no sights.

Hmmmm.

I wish there was a store with a KRISS I could fondle.
