It started with a tick bite. How I lost my husband to undiagnosed Lyme disease.

Thanks Jay. Scary ####.

Found another one up at the camp (near kemptville ontario). Thats 2 in two years now after going 5 without seeing any. At least it is a dog tick again and not a blacklegged deer tick.

I bought the permethrin-infused shirt and pants from Mark's Work Warehouse. Wore the shirt for the first time today, working in the woods. It is fairly heavy, and would be pretty uncomfortable on a really hot day. Seems to work...........

I spray my camp work clothes with the UltraShield horse spray. Works great and keeps mosquitos from landing as well

Going into the fall season... Collected off the dog today... Last one was June 16th.

Be tick, lyme disease & co-infection aware! Take precautions, permethrin your bush clothes...

As a kid I used to go hiking in the woods near my home . I won't do it anymore . too much of a chance to pick up a tick or so . found one on my boot while cutting the grass last year. and another one on my running shoe while I stopped to take a leak while walking . if I had to go in the bush I'd spray the hell out of my clothes .

A few days ago my wife had a shower at my in-laws and had a tick on her neck I noticed after she put her hair up. Their bathroom window doesn't have a screen so I'm assuming the bastard just walked right in and went on the towel.

UltraShield works amazingly well, and as you said, keeps mosquitoes and blackflies away. Last summer as a crew were installing a gate at my deer property they were getting swarmed by both insects, none around me wearing treated clothes....

I have several “black moles”, mostly upper torso. I noticed one of my moles had darkened & developed a red mark around it and thinking CANCER I booked an appointment with the doc. The day before the appointment, my son was over & my wife asked him to look at how the BLACK mole had enlarged, turned a CREAM colour and the surrounding tissue was red. He takes his cell phone and uses the bright light and magnifier to have a look/see. He says “well, that MOLE has legs and they’re moving”. He took tweezers and tried pulling it off but it had such a grip that my skin was pulled up at least an inch without the bugger releasing. My sister in law had to press down on my flesh to prevent it lifting, then my son finally pulled it off with some skin attached. My son asks, “how long ago was it you noticed this particular MOLE?” I said it’s been there at least a few months. He said “after that long, I think it’s considered a pet”.

And hopefully you went to a doctor and got a prescription for antibiotics?

Absitivly, I was off to the doc the next day. Anti B’s and blood tests. All was good. I was asked to see a DISEASE specialist and he was quite informative. I told him I spent a lot of time outdoors and his advice was……” they use to say remove your shirt & have a friend look you over. Now the saying is to STRIP DOWN & have a friend look you over.” Not sure how well that goes if my wife showed up after I was home & I had a neighbour looking me over…….. “Honestly honey, she’s looking for tics”.
