Tight Group for lights loads only?

Tried Tite Group (for the first time)... for 9mm I used 3.8gr behind a 138gr bullet, for .44mag - 9gr behind a 200gr bullet

I was surprised how light the recoil of the 9mm load was; I had some 'light' Power Pistol loads (5.2gr/138gr) with me that day and the Tite group reloads had considerably less snap.

The .44mag loads (which were about 83% of the max loads) had minimum recoil, which is actually what I hoped for and the reason why I got the powder; since I don't always feel like shooting H110 ;)

But anyways will 4gr be to much for 138gr CMJ buller? I wouldn't mind more recoil from 9mm...

thanks...

I allready saw it, the problem is that they don't have data for 138gr bullet :(

they list 4.1 as starting load and 4.4gr as max for 124 and 130gr FMJ but than only 3.2gr start and 3.6gr max for 147gr XTP

my load was 3.8gr (with 138gr bullet) and I'm not sure if it's safe to go higher

I found 3.6 gr Titegroup under 124 gr lead boolits were the most consistent. Went as high as 4.4 gr and got 1240 fps as a high with a low of 1179 with an average of 1209. Accuaracy was no better than what I achieved with Unique which I find to be excellent in the 9MM.

Recoil was the same when velocities and loads were kept relative.

Take Care

In 44 magnum, it's a 'light' load even at max load, because it's a fast burning powder, so pressure peaks high early but doesn't last long, and the velocity is much lower than a load using slower powder, explaining in part the lower recoil.

Titegroup ain't ideal for all calibers, but I like it's versality, it can be used with acceptable performance in many calibers.
