Looking for input on the tightest patterning (non flight control) 00 Buckshot for Practical Shotgun/ IPSC/3 Gun competitions purposes and what non ported chokes you found worked best? Seem to always get 1 or 2 flyers that invariably find the no shoot targets and tank my buckshot stages.

My online research thus far seems to suggest the 8 pellet buffered 2,2,2,2 configuration 00 buck in either IC or Mod seems to produce less pellet deformation and tighter patterns with minimal flyers vs the 9 pellet 3,3,3 lower recoil loads i’ve been using.

My limited testing thus far has been frustrating. Some of the tightest patterning 00 buck at 12 metres turn out to the worst most open loads at 20 metres. Any help on 00 loads I could try are welcomed.

I'm of no help (locally all comp. Shotgun is target load and slug) but I couldn't help but think of this

I shoot Remington Managed Recoil Buckshot 8 pellet for IPSC shotgun, it patterns nicely thru a modified choke

Thanks RJS 800. Will add the Remington Managed Recoil 8 pellet loads to my list to be tested.

Did initial test with 3 target load brands of 00 i happened to have on hand last wknd. Findings so far suggest it seems to be more about your choke selection than the 00 brand. Tested the 3 buckshot brands using an IC and Modified choke at 12 and 20 yards in a Versamax Tactical with 22” barrel and Breda B12i with 24” barrel.

My Versamax had significantly tighter groups at both distances with all 3 Ammo types with and IC and the B12i produced tighter patterns with a modified choke.
