Tigrr's 1422 Yard Target Club

I hope my Savage 308 will reach a mile, only one way to find out.
I am switching to Lapua 155gr scenars bullets for a while with Varget powder. I'll see how that works out.
If the 308 doesn't reach a mile I'll switch to the new 6.5-284 and test it out!

Last year at summerland I stretched my 308 out to 1500 yards. Made 3 consecutive hits on a 1 moa target. At that time it was 175 smk's over 46.7 grains of varget travelling at about 2810 fps. Have since switched to 175 bergers over 45.8 grains flying at 2750 fps. I have a nightforce 5.5-22x56 with a 20 moa rail. I used all the internal elevation in my scope and was holding over another 7.5 moa in the scope reticle. I have no dought that with the right conditions it will make it there it comes down to needing more elevation, possibly a 40-60 moa rail. I think it was something like 72 or 77 moa of adjustment to get to 1500 yrds.

Went out with another group today and the winds were crazy. The wind was blowing at a steady 5 kms, with the occasional gust up to 15 kms pr hour.
Wind can make quite a difference in your percentage!! 1 bullet in 5 making contact.
There also was a snowmobile rally going right thought my range! Cease Fire unload and show clear was yelled out a few times as some machines screamed through at outrages speeds, stopping to check out the targets, looking over at the shooting building, seeing guys standing there waiting and then tearing out of there like their butt was on fire. Quite humorous actually.

I think Mutts 3" - 3 shot group at 1200 is going to probably stand for a while, till the wind dies down anyway.

No new hits on the 1422 yard target, it is 20" X 30". One or 2 hits on the 1200 yard target - 24"w X 30"L. 1000 yard targets are 6' high X 2' wide. 1100 yard target is 4' X 4'. The 600 yard target got blistered with hits, its 30" X 40". The snow is getting deeper, almost got stuck going out to paint the targets. Might have to plow some snow.
I need to start practicing on targets at 600 yards, 800 yards and 1000 yards, to get ready for the summer shooting season.
LIG!
