Did you know that was 1:12” when you purchase it or did you find out after you got home? My friend found out when he got home. He is just as happy as it shoots ¾ MOA with 50 and 55 gr.

Tikka rifles are the best values you can find in the market. There are many happy owns.

I made sure it was 1:12 before I bought it, as I wanted to shoot the lighter 40-50gr bullets. And yes you can still buy a 2007 Tikka in 1:12 twist. It is on their website as well as they can tell you at your dealer. I bought mine private but asked a dealer and emailed Tikka when you said it is no longer available. According to them they still have the 1:12 twist.
I hope I see that 3/4 MOA accuracy, I am still waiting for my scope to come!!
 
Please please I beg of you guys with T3 Lite .223 1 in 8 twist rifles! PM me some loads that have worked for you. My husband bought me one last November and it shoots 55gr factory loads terribly. Mine has an Elite 4200 6-24x40 mildot side focus on it so seeing the bullat 100m is easy and I sight in on a Bench Master rest.

Desperate for some accurate 69gr loads!!!!

The 1:12" can handle bullets accurately up 60 gr with the sweet spot at 45-55gr. The 1:8" on the other hand shoots well for anything 55 gr and up.

For varmint and predator hunting, 50-60 gr bullets is sufficient.

Heavier bullets would be for good windy days and long range shooting (>300 yds). However they don’t fly as flat and one needs more practice for longer range shots.

My T3 Lite Stainless shot 52gr HPBT exceptionally well. I'm sure it would have shot 50's equally as well.

Are you shooting that Winchester 55 gr hollow point ammo (the box with the gopher on it) by any chance? My Varmint with 1 in 8" twist absolutely hates that ammo and won't group well at all with it.
On the other hand, I was quite surprised to find that it really likes Remington 45 gr. hollow point factory ammo, and it absolutely loves the American Eagle ammo of all types as long as it's hollow point.
I don't know what kind of difference there would be with your Lite and my Varmint, but if you can reload try using 60 gr. or 63 gr. Sierra bullets with H335 powder. My best load ever was 25.3 grains of H335 behind the Sierra 60 gr HP bullets. Shot a ragged hole group with it and it destroys gophers.
Varget powder also works very well with these two bullets I've found.
I haven't tried loading up the 69 gr bullets yet, because the 60 and 63 are working so well already.

Unless one has spare mags for the mag rifle (and Tikka mags are pricey), I personally find the hinged floor plate a blessing at times -- particularly in high-volume gopher shooting. While I love my Tikka T3 Tactical in the gopher patch, it seems I'm forever removing, reloading, and replacing the mag. A Remington, on the other hand, is much quicker to top up -- just open the bolt and drop the rounds in. The result is that the Remington is always fully charged, while I tend to shoot the T3 dry at times (usually at exactly the wrong times! :)

Thanks for the info. I was shooting some Win Ranger 55grPSP. And some Win 55grFMJ white box. Both not very good at all. From a cold barrel I was plinking muskrats from 247yds lasered on the first shot everytime. Had 3 sitting on the edge of the ice and open water. With the time it took for them to crawl back up after 1 went pop my barrel was cool and hitting dead on again. But on the bench warmed up they were grouping about 2.5 inches at 100m. Win Ranger 69grHPBT's were going 0.5" for 3 shots. So I'm hoping to reload with that weight.
 
Ya throw away the Winchester ammo of all kinds when it comes to the Tikka-- not sure what the problem is but that white box stuff doesn't shoot very well either, but nowhere near as bad as the 55gr HP stuff.

Yeah, my T3 Deluxe (1:8) was a disappointment the first time out, too. Had an assortment of half-empty boxes of various factory loads, mostly Winchester and some AE FMJ, all in the 50-55g range. Nothing shot worth a damn. Then I tried some of my AR match handloads (77g SMK over 26g Varget), and put 4 shots into .35". Haven't had a chance to go back and work up some loads in the 68/69g range. This seems to be consistent with what I found with the AR as well. It's got a 1:7 Noveske barrel in it, and it didn't really start to shine till I got up past 69g.

You want a .223 which is a varmint cartridge...but you want a 20" barrel cause its easier to handle in the bush.
What kind of varmints live in heavy bush in Ont. warrenting a short barrel?

Coyotes and beaver shooting, I often find it handier to have a short barrel. The velocity loss doesn't seem to effect the dead critters any different than a faster load.
 
I bought a CZ527 Minimauser 223. 21.9in barrel and 5.9lbs. Scaled down Mauser action designed for cf 22. Full sized barrel and 223 sized mech so lots of weight gone. Sweet rig too and a DM to boot. Me likey. And a pretty little rifle:)
