Here were some of my initial 5 shot groups, bbl has not been broken in yet

Only thing I really dislike about the tikka is the mag does allow you to seat bullets out very far and this one action fits all is really stupid. I also have an issue that you can't top load the mag.

Cheers!!

.204 is NOT too light for 'yotes at a distance. I only shoot the light 32 vmax's. Love em. Also excellent on those loud 'annoying' yet intelligent birds who won't come closer than 600m cuz they know I've got the gun out. I've never shot them from a tikka though so I can't comment on that part.

I actually just got back from the range with my 204. First time and just sighting it in.

Was fuming at first. It's a Savage Predator and every round I tried to load from the right side of the staggered fed mag got hung up when loading it. Got some good groups but was still pissed at the feed problem.

Stopped at the shop on the way home and told my smith about it. He took a look, saw where it was hanging up and went over behind the counter and grabbed a box of Rem 40 gr accu-tips. They slid in like a glove. Seems the Hornady Soft Points ain't the thing to be shooting out of this gun, the lead was catching something in the chamber and only on the right hand feed. All fixed now, just gotta buy better bullets!

I wont shoot a dog with bullets under 35 grs. I shot plenty and used the 32 grs briefly but had alot of runners. 39 Blitzkings are magic on coyotes.
32 gr. Vmax loaded to blaze at 4300 fps is a gopher round.

Cheers!!

That's an odd problem... to be clear were you using factory Hornady 32grn vmax? imo if a rifle doesn't like the factory round that essentially defines the .204 hmmmmm. As for 'better'... I'd argue there are none better than factory Hornady 32grn vmax. I'd call Savage and ask WTF????
Let us know what they say. I run Savage for a couple other calibres but not the 204, i'm surprised to say the least.

He said Hornady soft points, so I'm guessing the 45 grain flavour.

I am pretty sure I wrote down how far every thing was,, the coyote was on my ass,, thats how many yards,, BTW I can read.

Ok. My apology. You can tell I haven't been shopping for it in a while, didn't even realize they offered it in a 45grn. :redface:I can't seem to find any info showing the OAL has changed though... can't see that they'd do that.
