I'm thinking of buying a Tikka .223cal CTR with the 20" barrel and was wondering if anyone had one of these and would care to comment on the good, the bad and the ugly.

I’ve had a T3 Tactical in .223 which I very much regret selling. It was fantastically accurate and very handy. I’ve had a CTR in .308 for several years and it too has been fantastic for both hunting and PRS. I’ve also had several Tikkas in the old and new version plastic stocks. Personally I think the new version is very comfortable, has next to no flex, and the mags are excellent. The only think I’ll say about the stocks is that an adjustable cheek piece would be nice and that the plastic can be noisy … if that’s something you care about.

Honestly, the trigger won’t need to be touched, the barrel will shoot, the action is very nice, and unless you want a rail with cant, the only thing that you might want to upgrade would be the stock and luckily there are plenty of options.

I have a CTR in .308. I would say that the CTR rifle is an incredible value as a platform. I feel like a .223 wouldn't do it as much justice as a larger calibre like a .308 It is a robust gun with a heavy barrel, and you are probably carrying a lot of extra weight for such a small calibre if you go for the .223

I would absolutely recommend that you choose a CTR - just in a bigger bullet size.
