Tikka .300 mag T3 Tactical vs TRG .338 lapua

The TRG42 is defenetly NOT the same rifle as the Tikka (Receiver, barrel, stock, triger), the rifle is better (But T3 are NOT BAD, only DIFFERENT) , the trigger systeme is ajustable in a lot of way (position AND tension) the stock too, way much more confortable and the thread on the barrel is for muzzle brake ( i'am not sure i would try it without the brake ??) AND silencer but the last one is NOT allowed and prohebited in canada.

The TRG42 in .338 stealth (i don't know for other) is also chrole lined.

You can reach more far, more accurately with more power in .338 anytime for sure. I was using a sendero in .300 mag for almost 10 years before switching for the TRG in .338, the power (long flat shooting) and the accuracy (i have tried up to 1km) is far better with the TRG than with my Remmy 700 but it's not fair to compare a 1000$ rifle with a 3000$ rifle that are not intended for the same purpose...

Just my 2cents
Sendero

Can anyone inform me if the TRG .338 Lapua is an upgrade over the Tikka Tactical T3 300 mag?
Is the rifle better?
Does it kick more
Is the .338 more accurate with more range?
What is the thread on the TRG? Is that for a muzzle break? Or silencer?

If you seriously need to even ask this question, you're not ready to step up to the plate. You'll spend lots of money and go nowhere fast. Oh, but you will be "tacticool".

No, but I can smell bulls**t with just one nostril.
If a person was going to get into long range shooting why wouldnt s/he buy a good weapon? As for accuracy I am considered fairly good with game. You are correct that I have little knowledge of tactical arms. You seem to have some. Everyone needs to have some claim to fame I suppose. Why the large breasts on the avatar. Are you studly as well?

Nobody is suggesting that you shouldn't buy an accurate and high quality firearm. For fit, finnish (pardon the pun), ergonomics, and accuracy, few factory rifles short of AI's (Accuracy International) rival a Sako TRG series rifle in any of the (3) cartridges offered. The Tik Tak is not in the same league.

Studly? No, I just appreciate a good set of teets and loud 80's hair metal.

I would have to agree with some of the posts on here. If this is your first precision rig... maybe a rethink is in order.

Not to deter you from a high class rig... but "baby steps" then "walk" then "run".

Starting with such a high charged calibre might develope some bad habits that just stick around for a while.

x2 go with tacdriving .308. Learn to "shoot" a super accurate gun before you step up the power and develop bad habits from recoil. I found that If I ONLY shoot my mags I get twitchy. If I shoot my .308 my .223 and my mags in no particular order I avoid the twitch of anticipating recoil. Some call it a flinch, I call it a twich because my bad habit is trigger/hand related, not face or body/arms; I twist the grip when I expect the recoil instead of maintaining stead pressure, and pulling my finger to the same spot.

And spend 20,000? or 30,000? Or 40,000? I use a 300 mag in the field now with no problem and this isnt rocket science.

Not trying to bash... just give opinions.

Who says you have to spend 20,000 or 30,000 or 40,000? My rig isn't worth $1200 right now and I'm sure there are others on here that have also found great results with a sub $2000 rig. Just means you get to spend more on ammo.

But to each his own. If you've got the cash to burn... there are several companies that give out free matches with every purchase of a rifle.

Years ago when you bought an Armalite you got a "tactical toaster" to go along with it. Not sure if it came equipped with 1913 rails though.
