Tikka 7-08 starting point

Excellent input thanks again everyone. Going to set it up Tuesday evening, just with a Leupold vxII 3-9x40 for now. Have a vx5 2-10 on its way.

To date, my wife's 7mm-08 rifle (Steyr Mounatin Classic) shoots the Nosler factory ammo with 140 gr AccuBond well (1" groups), but with handloads actually shows a preference for the Sierra 140 gr ProHunter seated in Nosler brass over 47.2 gr of IMR4350 with F210M primers COAL 2.276" = 1/2" groups at 100 yards.

Looking at using the 140 gr AccuBond in my rebarreled Winchester Model 88 when I finally get it home.

I've got a T3 I load for a friend with 140 TSX W760 , 215M primer , RP Brass ,2970 Ft/sec with no pressure issues.I do have them loaded to 2.780", what the exact jump is I didn't measure but this works well.

Use W760 for many 7/08 loads

Like bearhunter says, some like it hot, this one certainly does.

Don't stress about components , just start low and work up, I do however endorse the Lapua brass and will not use Federal unless I absolutely have to.

I would however discourage the use of a TSX out to 4-500 in the 7/08 , for that you want something more fragile, as the TSX need speed to open up properly.

I helped a buddy with his 7-08 t3x,started with h414 & 150 gr eldx's seated at 2.800 and couldn't get a decent load with it shooting 5 shot groups,I then seated them.50 off lands and got a good load at 45.3 grs. but they were to long for the magazine.I then tried imr4350 seated at 2.800,started at 43.5 and went to 44.9 when I hit the sweet spot. One thing i found with this load was that .2 of a gr made a big difference in group size with the imr4350,it is still shooting well even in the colder weather, usally around 1/2" groups.Very nice light hunting rifle.
