Tikka 7x57??

They chamber 7-08, various 6.5’s, .270 Win and 7x64.
I think 7x57 is great, classic cartridge loaded with romance, but it’s a cult cartridge who’s adherents ascribe to it a myth and magic that it doesn’t possess any more than a 7mm-08 or 7x64 or .280/.270. It would have very little appeal to most shooters. Very few makers chamber for it any more. I can’t think of any other than Voere who list it as standard? Bummer, but true…
 
I think if you really wanted it, it wouldn’t be hard to do.

Long action magazine and bolt stop, 7/08 tikka and a chamber reamer
 
You’d have to set it back quite a ways, the 08 is fatter and has a thicker neck

I have owned many 7x57 rifles and several 7-08's as well. Ballistically, they are identical.

I favor the 7x57, for mostly nostalgic reasons. [First centerfire rifle I ever shot] Have taken
a lot of game with the venerable 7x57. Nothing magical about it....just gets the job done
if the shooter does his/her part.

A T3X in 7x57? Does not do much for me, but then neither does a T3X in 7-08.

My "keeper" is a M700 "Classic" in 7x57. Mild-mannered, accurate and deadly. :) Dave.

No more No less then it’s not chambered in 284 WIN ! 7x57 and 284 are both Handloaders cartridges ! BUT !

The cartridge that they do not chamber in is the EXTREMELY popular 280 AI and there’s Dozens & Dozens of different factory loadings !

MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL ! JMHO RJ
 
I was thinking of having a new 7x57 barrel spun onto a CZ 557 I had, but I ended up finding a NIB Ruger M77 7x57 tang safety and that was a real score. I would say, if you like to reload, go for it. A modern, strong action has its advantages, and you can really squeeze the potential out of a 7x57 to well exceed any 7mm-08. Brass is readily available and there's a number of powders that work well, including Varget.

The M77 in 7x57mm is a well kept secret. ;)

For some reason, you see 8x57 chambered Euro rifles being exported here, but rarely 7x57. I guess 7mm-08 is so well entrenched. Ruger, of course, had a few runs of the #1 in 7x57 as well as the M77 (tang and MKII), but there's not much else. A real score would be to find a Remington Classic in 7x57.
 
I think 8x57 is used in Europe but the unrimmed 7x57 plays second fiddle to the 7x64. Sauer, SAKO, Anschutz, Haenel, Blaser and Merkel all offer bolts in 8x57 and not 7x57

It's basically similar case capacity (wee bit less) to the 280, and has a slightly faster twist rate for heavier bullets, plus has some class as it's been around over 100 years.
I have one, wouldn't trade it for anything.
 
I've got a CZ 550 Lux and a Ruger M77-RS Mark II in 7X64 Brenneke... love those both... whacked a couple truck loads of game with the Ruger. I also have a Ruger M77 Mark II 7X57... really nice rifle too.
 
7x57 doesn’t belong in a plastic fantastic rifle. I’d be much more enthused if Winchester chambered a 7x57 in the model 70 more than every 30 years. Or a CZ, an M77, a Zastava maybe, heck even a Wood and blued rem 700. But not a salvage or a tikka.

I almost feel the same way, I have a Tikka 7-08 and it makes sense, but one in 7x57 or 35 Whelen would seem strange.
