Tikka Accuracy Issue

I had a .243 that wouldn’t shoot, took a fair bit of heat on here when questioning the brand. I was informed that all tikkas are 1/4 minute guns....put a Krieger on it and the problem went away.

I’m guessing you got a junk barrel.

And yet he posted that the rifle shot fairly tight groups with different ammunition, and another scope.

Tikka & Sako 30 cal barrels are 1-11 twist vs most others being 1-10 twist. Have a friend with a sako 300 wsm who had problems finding the right load. Once he found that load it was deadly accurate. He went through a lot of ammo before he figured it out. I would highly suggest it may take a few different types of ammo to get that one perfect load. I highly doubt a new leupold scope is the problem.

i have found 30 06's to be weight finicky. if you shot mine with 150 grn you would say its crap. better but not good with 165's. almost any 180 grn load is good to excellent. i have a 308 battue and a ruger scout that is the opposite. they shines with 150's or 125's and poor with 180's. the rifle will tell you what it wants.

Actually I’d switch right back to the federal blue box before I switched scopes. After he switched scopes he went right to the Sako ammo. So I’m sure it’s the ammo not the scope.

I agree. I would go back to the fed blue box, and if it doesn't work like it did before then I'd start looking at the scope mounts/rings/etc.

Eliminate one variable at at time or you will learn nothing.Have someone else shoot it that is experienced off the bench. My son's 30-06 T3 cuts 1/2" with 150gr TTSX's.Could be anything.Shooter, bench, mounts ,scope ,barrel .............ammo.

I have a Krieger on my 223 Tikka T3x - shots touch one another at 100 yards

My tikka in .30-06 rocks just under 1" groups at 100 using factory 150 Winchester PMB, I remember when I shot 180's blue box federal could cover the group with a dime. I think you need to play with a few different types of ammo and see what it likes.

My t3x varmint in .223 seems to hate Sako ammo . Very inconsistent groups .
It shoots most other brands quite well, and really likes Nosler VArmageddon 55 grain .
I have put 3 shots through one ragged hole at 200 yards more then once . Keep trying different ammo I’d say .
And of course like others have said .. double check all your mounting points and give it a good cleaning again too .
