Tikka arctic or Ruger gunsite scout in 308

I just love the iron sights that come with the Tikka Arctic. I'd buy the rifle for that reason alone, but the Liberals scared me away with the ban they put on and then took off. I already have too much $$$ tied up in guns I can't use and are due to be 'bought back' but never will be.

I have the Tikka and really like it. Great sights and trigger. It's not going anywhere.

rangers like them desite a very short lop. i had a ruger scout but despite all the love i tried to put with open sights or regular or scout scope it did not work as a couple. the tikka is expensive but there is a change you do better with a regular tikka open sights like a battue and laminate stock and still way less money.

I have a Ruger in 450 BM synthetic stock model, no experience with that model of Tikka, I prefer any Ruger over any Tikka, I have a 1-4 non scout scope with QR rings and the XS rail, I usually carry the Ruger without a scope, love the light weight and the short barrel.

Lol, the Ruger is just over 6 lbs in a synthetic stock. Add a pound if it’s in a laminate, not even close to being heavy.

Add one of the new flush-fitting MDT 3rd. magazines to the equation and the polymer scout is one svelte and agile little carbine.
Those Arctic Rangers have some nice features but damn are they a boat anchor with that hideous chunk of lumber.

Does the price you pay for the Tikka include a snowmachine to haul them around all day?

Done quite a bit of mods to my Ruger but was thinking of a Tikka Artic but I am thinking that I will not have the same fexibility with accessories. I am looking for another 308 bolt gun but the toss up for me is between the Artic and BCL Bronco Hunter. The Bronco has a folding stock and comes in various barrel length with the shortest being 10" I think but the biggest consideration is that it is almost half the price of the Artic.

You couldn’t give me a BLC product lol, I’d carry a boat anchor around before I gave them a dime.

Canadian company and all of my BCL AR15s have been super reliable and much better than my S&W and Ruger ARs so until I personally experience otherwise...

This. ^^ I hope MDT comes out with flush fit mags for 350 Legend.;)

I really appreciate all the insight I agree tikka is a nice quality piece but I've come to the realization if I'm gonna pay that price I think I'll buy a Christensen arms Ridgeline FFT Sitka weighing in at 4.9 pounds so I'll go with another ruger at least I won't cry if it gets the odd bump while out in the field.

Yeah the 3rd Ruger mag I have is nice and low profile, I normally use the 5rd mags but lately the 3rd has been just right.

Just get a mossburg patrol in 308. It’s pretty much the same thing as the Ruger but not as pretty
It’s less then half the price too and you can use ar10 or m14 mags in it

Hey BB you got to try one of the MDT 3 rd'ers they released at the same time as the HNT 26 Chassis...flush with the stock, rounded bottom for beautiful one hand carry. I'll try and snap a picture.

Maybe it’s just you lol!

Could be. However, I distinctly remember picking one up and being impressed by its lack of balance or anything approaching handiness. It may be just me, but I have picked up a lot of rifles in the last 6 or 7 decades, so I do have something to compare it to.
