The only place in Canada I can find them listed as in stock is Cabela's, for $2800. I see them on the EuroOptics site in the states for roughly $2480 after the $ conversion, which makes you wonder why they're that much less than here.

Same as every other rifle in Canada....economics of scale.
Some Forum Sponsors (when they had them) were pricing them around $2500-2600 CAD.
You could use an importer - with import fees and shipping you might save $150 or so over Cabela's

As much as I love that rifle and the way they set it up, I ended up going with the CZ 557 Range instead. The rifle and mags being 1/2 the price was definitely a factor in my choice.
I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm not saying that the rear aperture sight, being stainless and having a very nice two stage trigger are worth the extra $, but I had a CZ 550 heavy barrel in .308 many years ago and I didn't care for the trigger.
^^^^ This exactly.. I molested an Arctic and a CTR at a local shop for a good while. Ended up leaving with the CTR and a optics and $$$ in my pocket. The Arctic feels and looks great but ain't worth the extra coin.

If that 550 had a set trigger I know what you mean. I have that on the 527 and I'm not a fan. The 557 has a fully adjustable 2 stage trigger that can be adjusted into a single stage. I have mine set up as a 2 stage with a clean and crisp break with absolutely no creep at the wall. I actually really like it.
It did have the set trigger and I swore never again. Thanks for the info, I didn't realize the 557 trigger was that user friendly.

I realize the Arctic is somewhat over priced, but none of the rifles you've suggested have a rear aperture sight, front adjustable for elevation , are stainless and have an "adjustable' buttstock and .308.
I love the idea of the rotary rear aperture sight. I really liked the one on my Swiss Arms, it was fantastic.

I did the same and have no regrets, although I would’ve preferred the single set trigger on the 557. I love it on the 527 and have an urge to add the 550 before they’re gone.

It's a great trigger, easily adjustable, but it's definitely NOT user friendly. If you take it off to do a bedding job, you'll end up with nearly a dozen parts on the table. Make sure you take pictures before and during every step you're removing this thing. It's a pain in that way, but still not as aggravating as the ball bearing they have in the CZ 455 trigger. You can see the beauty of the Remington 700 single unit triggers when you mess around with CZ triggers.

My main issue is that the trigger sets too much forward for my liking. Sure it becomes a hair trigger, but the fact that the trigger isn't in the same place throws me off. I'm sure it's something I could get used to in time but it just feels awkward to me.
I was at Cabela's yesterday and it was tough to walk out the door without that rifle. Super slick action, the sights couldn't be better, solid mag. The only thing with Cabela's is you can't try the trigger. They won't remove the trigger lock. They say it has to do with their licence?

That what's happens when Lieberals own "Sports" stores that sell guns on the side. They make it as hard and unpleasant as possible to buy guns from them. Worst part is, if you get home and turns out there's something wrong with the firing mechanism, they won't take the firearm back, they'll force you to deal with the manufacturer.
same here. I have since shot the Tikka Artic and it is a really nice rifle but not double the price nice. Were I to buy one i'd leave it as a peep sighted rifle instead of mounting a scope because of its weight. $2500 for a peep sighted bolt action is far too pricey for me to use as a 2 weeks a year hunting rifle. The CZ 557 is a really nice rifle as well and at half the price is a much more reasonable option. I just wish the CZ 557 has a set trigger like the CZ 527 which is arguably the best centre fire rifle CZ makes right now. Were they to make the exact same rifles as the CZ 527 in 308 i'd buy that one in a heartbeat.
Guns are like cars, some people like a civic, others want a Mercedes or ferrari.....they both get you from place to place just the same. You can justify what you buy to hunt with however you want, but obv high priced rifles still sell for hunting or nobody would bother producing them if we were all fine with the cheapest thing available
