Tikka Bases not lining up???

Hi,

We have 2 tikka T3 lites, with the 2 piece factory bases. They're fine, except the picatinny slots don't line up with an actual picatinny rail, so when I swap scopes I have to move one of the rings. I've spun one 180deg, but still doesn't work.

Am I missing something? Is this an oversight by tikka? Is this on purpose by tikka??

So you think that the distance between slots on the bases should allow you to take a optic off another firearm, and the rings would line up/quick attach on the Tikka?

Guess i never even considered doing that. I attach, bore sight, zero, and leave a optic on a firearm for years. My only removal would be if the optic craps out on a Fuddy rifle with sights, giving me somewhat of a redundancy in the middle of know where, and not completely ruining a trip.

They never designed them for the purposes of swapping between a two piece base and a picatinny rail. Basically, you're trying to do something the gun rail wasn't designed to do. If it's a big deal, buy a picatinny rail for the second gun, or a scope for each gun...

I'll respond to both...

Yes, I'm looking to swap my high end FFP scopes from my target guns to my hunting gun when I need.

Fair enough about them not planning for that, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't having a brain fart and missing something. I have two picatinny bases in my Brownell's cart as we speak....

I have many guns for 2-3 scopes, so I need the universality of the picatinny.

When buying rails to do this type of swap, try and buy all from the same manf. Hopefully, this means any error is consistent through the rails.

You will be surprised at variations in what pic rails end up with.

FYI, I have EGW pic rails instock for the Tikka T3.
