Just curious if anyone hunts with their tikka CTR ? Anyone put a rivet in their OE factory mag to make it for 5 rounds ? I know blasphemy, but Berreta will not import the 5 rounds mags and not interested in switching over to Atlas bottom metal.

Why would you need a rivet? The factory magazine is legal at 10rnds.

If your hunting regulations for your province state no more than 5 rounds then don't put more than 5 in while you are out in the woods during hunting season.

It is only waterfowl (federally regulated) where a pin or limiting device is required per regulations to limit capacity further than what is legal under the firearms act.

Thanks Brian, i hunt in BC. I could swear from long long ago I read that centerfire was 5 rounds, but having skimmed the current synopsis I can’t find anything other then the restrictions for shotguns.

I believe it was also part of the core program when I did it decades ago

If the animal just stands there and let's you spend the whole 10rnd mag, there is likely something wrong

I have a CTR in .308. I bought it for stand hunting whitetails and long range shooting (PRC)
It handles well in a blind, very accurate, and with a change from target to hunting scope its perfect for me.
Just my 2 cents

The logic that the mag on a bolt action can only hold five rounds would mean that all Lee Enfields could never have been used for hunting!

For sure , and you could include lever guns in pistol calibers.

I like the fit of the stock more then a standard T3/T3x.

What type of scope do you have on it for hunting. I have a Vortex pst 4-16x50mm ffp on mine, however I do not use it for hunting and have considered putting a trijicon 3-9x4omm for hunting on it

CTR is a fantastic hunting rifle, I use mine 308 as my main hunting rifle. These two shot off-hand at just under 100yd, shortly after a calf at 600yd.

Yes south west coast of Ireland. These are Sika Deer which are of a different gene pool as others in our country and a bit smaller. Very tough deer.
Same CTR rifle different stock and a one horn or malformed second horn Sika stag.

my main interest in the ctr was more shots before a poi shift. the barrel isnt alot heavier the the lite. the guy at the gun shop so don't quote me said he noticed a poi shift after 4 shots. I found the hunter to balance nicer so that's what i made my decision on. the ctr is a nice gun and am not bashing it

The barrel contour on the CTR is a lot heavier than on the Lite. As for poi shift, I shoot five shot groups, firing one shot after the other with no barrel cooling, and my five shot groups are well under 1/2" at 100m.

I use a Leupold 3-9x for hunting and a 6-24 Vortex Viper for target and long distance.
My shots are only 100-200 yards or less while deer hunting.

My 2 cents again,
The Ctr I shoot in .308 has put a 10 shot group all in an inch at 100 yards with some handloads I did up. My POI does not move much if at all. Love my rifle.
However as always, not every rifle shoots the same.

Thanks, really happy with the CTR. I have had two, the first one I passed on to my friend.
Picture was taken under 5 min after the shots. They are fat that time of the year, this year they had good fat on them even now in February maybe because of our mild winter.

Brian we don't have a bag limit on private grounds, some forest leases have a management plan with suggested numbers. Our season is Sept to end Dec for Stags/male deer and Nov till end Feb for Females and hornless deer.
