Hello
Looking at picking up one or the other and wondering what the pros and cons of each are.
For the folks who has used both, which do you prefer? Why?

Resale?
Action?
Trigger?
Accuracy?

Will the Bergara drop into an MDT tax 21 chassis?
Do the Bergara utilize the profit barrel swap system?

Thanks

I owned the CTR, a friend the Bergara, both in 6.5CM. My CTR shot several loads well, the Bergara was extremely fussy, the Bergara copper fouled badly, my CTR hardly fouled. My friend then bought a second Bergara, in 6.5PRC, and that one was just as fussy, and also fouled badly, while my Christensen was not fussy, and hardly fouled. Based on those two rifles, I would never buy a Bergara.

I have a Tikka CTR.

It’s a great rifle all around. I’d say it checks off all the boxes that someone looks for in a rifle. Plenty accurate, nice fit and finish, decent trigger. You can’t go wrong.

The only downside is the factory magazines are expensive.

There seems to be more accuracy complaints with the Bergara rifles. Some are great, some aren't. Lots of information about overstay in the stock causing accuracy issues.

Bergara wins because of the Remington 700 footprint so parts and compatibility are extensive. Allows for great triggers. The tenon is weird so prefits might be tricky.

Tikka is nice overall. I have a build on a ctr action and it's ok. Lightish bolt lift, smooth, and reliable extraction/ejection. Tikka is held tight enough to order barrels without sending in the action. Trigger isn't great and even a spring doesn't make it as nice as a trigger tech diamond which I prefer

I'd take a tikka over the Bergara.

The finish, bore, machining etc was all nicer on my Tikkas, although my two B14s shot.

Prefer the Tikka trigger.

Plenty of aftermarket stocks and support for the Tikka IF you want to change it. Not really into changing anything on them personally

bergara run a 700 platform, any 700 stock, trigger ect can fit.

Either or is a good option. I couldnt find a CTR out there with adjustable cheek peice, hmr has it. Thats what would make the difference for me.

I know. 700 platforms need all that stuff a lot more than Tikkas do. Except for your cheekpiece I guess lol. There's still options for Tikkas otherwise.

The godawful cast pot metal cocking piece shroud on the Bergara kinda made me say "wow a 700 is a better rifle than this" even before I started seeing them breaking and Bergara came out with their Gen 2 they say is steel. Sure, sintered steel.

I think most would disagree with you on that one. The general consensus is that Tikka's have one of the best factory triggers.

Love em.
