i recently picked up a Tikka M55 Stainless Varmint rifle in .223 off of my boss. just trying to find some info and history on them, but not having much luck. only history i found was about the SAS using them in .22-250 for a sniper rifle. came with a 3 round and 5 round mag, would like to find another 5 rounder, but am not holing my breath, know it will be expensive. i've heard they also made 10 rounders too??? this is definatly going in my do not sell safe, shoots unbelievably. any more info would be greatly appreciated.

maybe when the gopher hunt rolls around i'll let you touch it for a few seconds. maybe. you'd be really jealous if you knew what i paid for the whole package!

I've owned a few of the Tikka 55s in .308, including a couple of the ITHACA LSA 55 models, made by Tikka. Every one of these would shoot exceptionally well for a light barreled, wood stocked, un-bedded rifle. Sub MOA was the norm with good ammo.

I've never seen or heard of a SS version??

looks like as keeper ...

PS: the extended single stack mags for the 55 are hard to find.

ok well, here is the full story on it and why all of you are scratching your heads. it started life as a M55 "Continental" with a blued finish, and roll over cheek piece. it was nickle plated and pillar bedded by PGW many many moons ago. the original owner, like myself, is left handed, so the cheek piece was shaved off. he also had the oversized bolt knob installed, as it makes doing the "reach over" much easier. a truly one of a kind gun, that i have no plans on parting with anytime soon!

My M55 308 Varmint has the same large bolt knob and a short heavy barrel.
I've also got a M55 223 Deluxe and an M65 short barrel carbine in 6.5x55.
Mine are all in blue , but I quite like that stainless steel look.
