tikka m65 deluxe info

I had an Ithaca m55 deluxe in VG+ shape (.308 made by Tikka). They are fine rifles but parts are almost impossible to find if you need them. Lost magazines are very hard to find and sell for well over $100. I really liked the trigger adjustments and the high quality barrel. I bought mine for $350. The ejector was weak and emptys kind of fell out instead of being thrown out.
The cap screws on the rings are really soft and easily buggered and almost impossible to find.
I sure wouldn't spend $1000 for one. Sorry if anyone disagrees, but it is what it is.

That's more than the average going rate, but the price will somewhat depend on the kind rings it comes with. If they are the Tikka quick detachable that work with the dovetails, then that'll add something.

I have bought several of these in different calibres over the last few years.... best fitting gun for me and I like the quality, hard to beat IMHO! I have paid as little as $500.00 up to $850.00. Some feel the price is too high on them, I feel you get what you pay for! I have shot these rifles for 30 years now and most others sit in my safe to play with once in awhile.
I don't think you would be disappointed! Trying to find a replacement clip is a pain in the butt! But then again I have 4 that can share the same clip with one extra.... I am laughing!!!

The "Deluxe" will have a contrasting forend tip and grip cap. It might have a white-line spacer on the buttplate/recoil pad and possibly checkered as well. I believe all of them, including the Ithaca 55/65, had the palm swell.
Is it worth $1K? Only if it's new in the box.
Mags are difficult to locate, as others pointed out. I have one for the 30-06 length cartridges.

Is the bolt silver or blued? Is the forend square or round? I'd say it's worth $650 or so shipped if in very good plus condition. The bluing tends to be on the thin side on these rifles. About the only bad thing with them.
Bring this topic up. Someone offers me his Tikka M65 deluxe in 300wm in perfect condition. It means, perfect bore, not a scratch on the stock. Rifle shot less than a box. Seller is the frst owner and his rifle is very well maintained. Look like new. Rifle comes with a vintage Bushnell scopechief VI. I saw through the scope and I was a bit surprised by its quality. Lens are very clear.
Any idea what would be a fair price for it ?

Overall, Id like to know the pros and the cons wrt this M65 and is it true, they are better than the T3 ?

I recently picked one up in 7mm rem mag for $500. The stock had been cracked and repaired but the rest of the gun is in excellent shape. From what I've seen / dug up on the net they are well made and accurate rifles. The common gripe with them is expensive mags (mine came with 2), and parts are hard to find if you need the gun repaired. After I received mine I quickly decided it was worth ordering a McMillian stock for it.
As compared to the T-3, I've had both and the M65 is much nicer.

Very good rifles and last a lifetime. I like the deluxe with the rounded (not squared) foreend tip. M65 is a well designed action BUT a $1000 is Sako money and given the choice (I have Sako and Ithaca and Tikka "M's") I would buy Sako.
Resale better and no screwing around with lost magazines which are unobtainable. And Sako barrels work ok too! have a look at the TRG or 6ppc Varmints etc etc. there has been a myth growing around the older Tikka barrels....they are good But so are lots of other manufacturers - some much better (to add - the Australian SAS did use the Tikka M55 in 22/250 partly because it was accurate but also met other specs like detachable magazine.

Worth well over $750. You can't buy a new Tikka cheap
I wouldn't underestimate the scope. I still say that $1000 is very high. BUT try the rifle for fit before you buy. If it doesn't fit you, pass it by as you won't get that money out of it if you decide to flip it (IMO) OTOH if you can close your eyes and bring that rifle up and your eye is aligned and the cheek weld is right then you might have a rifle that you won't regret buying AND will give you years of good service which is really ALL we should be looking for. I don't think anyone would say its not a good rifle ... I think the question you asked is was it worth $1k. The real answer is - if you think it is to you.. buy it!! The performance won't disappoint you!
This thread is 2 years old and its BAD1010 who talk about 1k. Rifle I diplay pics above, I won't pay that much for it. This said, I won't have it for free either lol
Actually, I already have a T3 in 300wsm. I like it although the recoil is a bit strong even after a limbsaver been installed. When I saw this rifle (M65), I took it in my hands and I really like it. A bit heavier, consdtruction seems to be a better quality. Action not as smooth as my T3 but still very soft. Stock is To be hoones really nice too. After some research, I noticed the M65's specs are closer to the Sako in terms of quality build and parts. Apparently the reason why its been replaced by T3 soon after Sako bought Tikka.
To be honest, I wouldn't think too much of buying it since I already have a Tikka but this M65 is such in mint condition and I heard so many good things about it.

After searching long and hard, I now have a Tikka m55 Deluxe(243) and a Tikka m65 Deluxe(270).
These were built when Tikka competed directly with Sako in Finland. The triggers and actions are very, very nice.
The general view is that the Tikka55/65 is nicer than the LSA models.
Many who have owned these 55/65 rifles say they are at least as good as most Sako rifles.
They are quite a bit better than the Tikka T3 now made by Sako.
These are all opinions.........Best to take the leap and try one for yourself....Unlikely to depreciate if you decide to resell.

Doh... did not realize the date of the first post. Regardless, make no mistake: M65 and M55 are excellent rifles. As to the price... well, I guess everything is relative: When I bought my M55, I paid $500.00 for it. That's in 1981, when the minimum wage was $2.75 (I think,) and a box of ammo was $14.00, and a leather sling cost $6.39. See for yourselves:
Feels like it was yesterday... and as to the rifle, I would not sell it. Period. So, if someone is selling his M65 for $1000.00 and you want it... I respect both of you for recognizing quality for what it is. By the way,the receipt incorrectly shows the model as M555 - it is actually a M55...
