i have a tikka m65 from the 70s that i bought when i was 17 its got more notches on the stock than i care to tell about .
how good has your m65 -55 been
 
I have an as-new Ithaca LSA-65 which is the same rifle. I have yet to shoot it but will take it hunting this fall.
 
I have a 55 deluxe in .243...nice dark oil finish walnut with rosewood tip etc.
It is a real shooter....my go to coyote rifle for sure.
The last 55 deluxe I noticed on our EE (last JanuaryI believe) sold for $ 1200 in two hours.
 
Mine is a m 65 deluxe it has taken 7 elk and 14 deer and a more than few way out there it tends to be deadly at 600 meters
It is my ho to 1000 yard gun it's getting a make over this year
 
Tikkam65, what is the chambering of your M65?

I adore my M65 Deluxe in 30-06 --- I believe it's a later version (early 80's) as it has the rounded rosewood nose cap. I just finished fitting a new scope (Leupold VX2 2-7), so I'll be taking it to the range shortly. I was also very pleased to come across a spare magazine.

A gun shop in Saskatoon just sold a Tikka M65 Deluxe *left hand* in 25-06... that rifle was only listed for a day or so before selling. Nice rifles, they are... only complaint I ever here about them is their weight. I see that McMillan actually sells M65 inletted fiberglass stocks --- might be a good upgrade if you're making over your rifle.
 
I had an LSA 55 in 243win in the late 70s. It was a very well made, and accurate rifle. I took a few deer with it, before moving North to moose country, and trading it on a 7mmremmag.
 
My m65 is a 7 mm mag and spent a year developing loads for it
It seems to do very well with Remington express but not so good with federal and win
Like I said its taken a lot of animals last year it took a bull elk on the run at 75 yards in the back of the ear and split the horns in half on the run ,bang flop drop . A white tail same dead standing and a muly same dead standing
It's been tagging 3-4 animals every year for over 15 years
It has the rosewood tips palm swell

I have had M65s in 6.5X55, 7MM Rem. mag, 300 WM, and 338 WM, all excellent, very well made rifles superbly accurate.
The only downside is that they are a tad heavy.
Now I'm down to a Mod.55 heavy barrel in 308 and its wicked accurate in spite of a very high round count.
All in all, they are an awesome rifle even after not being produced for many years.
 
I used to own a M65 which I sold a few years back to finance another rifle. Probably the rifle I regret selling the most :(
 
Acquired a M55 in .222 this past spring, just love it.
Puts 5 shots under an inch at 200 yards with just about every load I feed it.
