Tikka Model/Caliber Selection

Overall the 6.5CM in a T3xLite in stainless would be my choice. Fitted into a good composite stock and the recoil is very tame. In years to come the ammo selection of the 6.5CM will increase as 6.5x55 or 260 decrease.

Since everyone and their uncle seems to own a Swedish Mauser (sporterized or not) in 6.5x55 Swedish, why not just stick with that well proven round in the Tikka, as well? Tikka T3 receivers are all the same length anyway, aren't they? So no supposed advantage to using a short case round.

Yes ALL Tikka t3 s are the same lenght & they just use bolt stops and blocked mags for shorter cartridges ! The Only Prob with the SWEDE cartridge is the availability and variety of ammo ! Its a GREAT reloaders cartridge thou ! jmo RJ

From what I can see, definitely Tikka is the way to go.. just the caliber is yet to decide.
I started to think about a Savage in stainless, but a recent Savage purchase showed me how crap their manufacturing is, and even worse how their support is after sales. I won't be buying another Savage. I thought also about a Browning and Weatherby, but I keep coming back to the Tikka... I think I will regret it if I don't buy one of those. Stores are all out of stock now though, unless its for a 300 or 7mm, can't seem to find anything locally in the smaller calibers. Used prices are $200 over store prices... it has gotten a bit insane.

I do NOT sport a man bun... and I am not someone who will zero a scope then lock her up to sell in 2 years. When I go to the range (as often as I can in the summer), I'll go through 2-3 boxes for each rifle, and usually bring at least 2 rifles with me, typically a .22LR to play a bit while the bigger rifle cools down.
I will be keeping the 30-06 just in case a moose hunt option pops up, plus is really has beautiful wood stock and I just installed a Limb Saver for kicks, haven't tried it yet.
I have not really looked at any of the 6.5x55 yet, simply because I am not familiar with them or know anything about them. I think I would need to do some research before delving into it, as I am still basically a newbie at all of this. I only have one friend that is into firearms and only because his dad used to hunt, but he has no interest. Being a lone hunter reduces the game choices, so moose is probably off the table until I meet more people who are into it.
