Tikka or Sako

I have two SS Tikka M695's
One in .30-06 and the other in .338WM
I prefer the SS with synthetic stocks since I'm out in all kinds of crappy weather, and in places where the rifle and the stock takes a beating.
(I used to whimper when I saw what was happening to my wood stocks.)

Kman, where did you get the prefit limbsaver for the sako? I have a Sako 75 SS in .375H&H that could use something a little softer then the factory brick.

Amphibious

I got them from http://www.p-d-ent.com/

Give them a call at 780-420-6419

The number for the Sako pad was 10011 if I remember correctly. Double check that though just in case. They fit very good and make one hell of a difference. One of my 75s is also a 375 H&H :) No more bruises.

Cheers

I was looking towards the T3 lite or Sako stainless/synthetic or finnlight in 300 wsm. They claim that there is only 4 onces difference between the SS and finnlight in that cal.
Thanks for the replies. I didn't know much about these rifles.

I have:

1 x Sako M995 (re: TRG-S)
2 x Sako L61 Finnbear (270 with laminated stock and 338 Deluxe)
1 x Sako L579 Forester Deluxe
1 x Sako 75 Finnlight

I find all to be very pleasant to shoot, accurate, well balanced, smooth.

I have handled Tikkas, an M695 and several T-3's. I guess a lot of people like them, but I'm not one who does. I hear that they shoot very well.

Sako rifles are significantly more expensive than Tikkas, usually. P&D Enterprises, in Edmonton, had a few new Sakos at incredibly low prices. They also price Optilocks quite low, compared to their competition (Wholesale Sports).

If you act quickly, you can buy a Sako 75 III, Blued Wood 243
for $999; that's less than $210 more than a T-3. I believe they have a Grey Wolf 300 WSM in stock as well.

If you are looking for economy buy the Tikka ... if you have the money to spend on the best buy the Sako... they are both excellent quality and will give you a lifetime of service.
